It is with heavy hearts that we announce our dear sister, friend, and faithful church member, Betty Sawyer, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday afternoon at the age of 92. She was our longest-standing member of Puente Hills Baptist Church, now known as Grace & Truth Baptist Church, for an incredible 66 years! She was an integral part of our church and a tremendous blessing to our church family.
Betty had such a sweet spirit, a spirited strength, and an unfailing faith. She was a true prayer warrior, always willing to help and offer words of encouragement, an example to our ladies, a loving teacher to our children, and the epitome of a virtuous Proverbs 31 woman. She was a proud mother of 7 children, and proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren with 2 more on the way. Her family was her greatest joy and she strongly raised them in the nuture and admonition of the Lord. Her heart belonged to Jesus. Betty's love and faith in God would shine through her actions in her home and in countless church ministries, always seeking to serve Him. In her recent years as her age and health limited her capabilities, she still faithfully attended church services with her daughter, Georgian, and son-in-law, AJ. It was beautiful to see recognition light up her eyes when she saw someone she remembered or heard a hymn she loved.
She was a true force in this world and a special gift from above. It's difficult to imagine this life without her. While we mourn her physical absence, we are thankful for the blessed assurance that Sis Betty accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, and we will see her sweet smile again in Heaven. She is now resting in the arms of our Heavenly Father with a perfect body. We're thankful for the life she lived, the love she shared, and the impact she had on so many. Please keep her children and their families in your prayers during this time.
"Well done, thou good and faithful servant." Go rest high on that mountain, sweet Betty. Your work on earth is done. ❤️🕊
"We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." (II Corinthians 5:8)
🎶She sits by the window with wandering eyes
She has a song in her heart
And a golden disguise
Her body is torn because age doesn't heal
She's not letting on
about the pain that she feels
But she knows in her soul
that it won't be too long
'Til Jesus comes back to carry her home...
Where there will be no more pain
No more sorrow,
No more waiting for illusive tomorrows
There will be no more pain, No more dying,
No more striving or strain,
No more pain 🎶
