As always, it was wonderful to see our community come together at Wat Khmer Austin this past Sunday to celebrate Cambodian New Year!

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us and for your generous donations and continued support of the temple. We know it can be a long drive and your presence truly means so much to us; it inspires and energizes us to keep doing what we do.

This celebration would not have been possible without our dedicated volunteers, who worked tirelessly to prepare the temple, include adding beautiful new adornments to the exterior and so much more. A special thank you to our decorating team, food sale volunteers, and everyone who worked so hard both behind the scenes and during the event—you made this celebration a success and we are truly grateful!

There is now even more beauty to admire at Wat Khmer Austin, thanks to the dedication and hard work of our wonderful volunteers. We were deeply honored to welcome Venerable Sothy from Houston and Venerable Sam Nang from Louisiana, who stayed at the temple and generously shared their time, skill, and devotion to complete the intricate exterior designs.

Their craftsmanship and dedication have added a truly beautiful finishing touch to the temple. To mark this special milestone, we recently held a small ceremony to celebrate the completion of the work and to offer blessings. 🙏

We look forward to welcoming everyone to see these beautiful new additions during our Khmer New Year celebration on April 19th! 🙏

Pchum Ben is one of Cambodia’s most cherished traditions, a time when we come together to honor our ancestors who have passed and to offer food to the monks. It is the second most significant Cambodian holiday, rich with meaning, remembrance and community.
