Evangelism Outreach Report 6/17
The weather forecast was uncertain. Throughout the day the predictions were changing regarding the conditions for the evening. We were not sure if we would encounter rain or not. Albert, Tom, and I decided that we would meet at SBC and then go from there. And from there we went. We drove to Thallas St. and tackled the west side of the road.
We were able to share to various extents with people on every house (6) that the door was answered. PTL. With the exception of two cases, we exhorted or clarified. Two units were familiar with the Gospel and indicated they were trusting in Jesus alone. The issue was they were not too regular at attending church. They indicated that life events had made it difficult. Sometimes situations like that exist, yet we encouraged them to make an effort and invited them to SBC.
In two other occasions we chatted with people attending Christian denomination churches. Albert shared with a man who attends church at Compass, the church meeting at our old building. Albert asked the typical questions “if you were to die today…” The man answered that he had been baptized and that Jesus had died for his sins. Albert pressed on the requirement of baptism for salvation and asked for clarification. During the conversation the man first indicated that baptism was the like the finishing touch (I don’t recall the exact words, but that was the sense), and eventually noting it was a public testimony. We encouraged him to check out the doctrine of the church he attended for the Christian Church denomination teaches (in a deceptive way) that salvation is a combination of faith, baptism, confession, and good works.
We briefly spoke with a lady who assured us she was fine because she had been attending the same church (Lutheran) for 45 years faithfully every Sunday. She was not interested in talking about Jesus when we mentioned that was our desire.
Tom spoke with a young woman for a good 25 minutes. He was able to thoroughly share the Gospel. She was engaged in the conversation and understood what Tom was sharing, but not decision for Christ. Afterwards, Albert, Tom, and I shared how we came to know the Lord. All of us were by ourselves. Albert got out of bed in the middle of the night and got on his knees to trust Christ. Tom was driving by himself on I-80 when he called on the name of the Lord. I went to a church building also by myself got on my knees and trusted the Lord. Hmmm…it is as if the Lord gives the increase…oh, He does (1 Cor. 3:6).
So then, we plant and water, leaving the results to the Lord.
We appreciate your prayers for us and for those who hear.
