ينتصب القدّيس موسى الحبشي مثال صارخ أمامنا على التحوّل
من عشق الأرضيات إلى العشق الإلهي والتوبة الصادقة
يخشى الكثيرون التقدّم من الاعتراف لأنّهم، على الأرجح، لم يختبروه علاجاً شفائيّاً لهم، بل مجرّد حصول قانونيّ على الغفران، فتراهم يميلون إلى بلوغه في علاقتهم الشخصيّة مع الله. أو ربّما يعود التهاون في ممارسة الاعتراف إلى عدم عيش حياة التوبة كما يليق. يكتفي الكثيرون ببعض الممارسات المسمّاة مسيحيّة، ويشدّدون على الأخلاق بشكل عامّ، ولا يرون حاجة بهم إلى الأكثر. كذلك تساهم تربيتنا الشرقيّة في تشديدها على إخفاء العيوب عن الآخرين والظهور بمظهر الكمال أمامهم، في نمو الخوف من مواجهة دواخلنا ومعرفتها جيّداً.
المسيحيّة مسيرة شفائيّة، واللاهوت الأرثوذكسيّ لاهوت شفائيّ والكنيسة فيه مستشفىً روحيّ يعالج الإنسان الساقط ليعود ذلك الكائن الذي يعرف مصيره وغاية وجوده، كائناً يتشبّه بالله ويسعى ليصير على مثاله، لا مجرّد كائن يسترضي الله ببعض التقدمات التي لا يحتاجها، له المجد.
