This is the last entry for this Burns Memorial United Methodist Church page. As of the district conference held Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024 it had chosen to depart the UMC.
The church celebrated their 75th anniversary last year with a full house and Nannette Strickland Roberts was recognized as the last charter member. She and her late husband, Herman Roberts married in November, 1947 with bare ceiling rafters, cement floor and lights hanging by cords from the ceiling. Many have wonderful memories of the members, leaders, preachers, teachers, and friends and neighbors who shared their love and love of the Lord during good times and bad. Lots of hours have been spent with the upkeep and changes that have occurred throughout the years to the buildings and surroundings but the mission of the church has always been to be a beacon of Christ’s love from our crossroads in our corner of the world. Time goes on as will the mission of the ones who choose to worship in this place. GOD IS GOOD, ALL THE TIME.
