This weekend is Exploration Sunday, and we're entering our final segment of the In Christ series, In Christ: The Light of the World. We'll be focused in on the book of Revelation this month, specifically Revelation 22:1-5, where we get a glimpse of the City of God.

Dr. Leslie Wickman will be leading our exploration this month. Dr. Leslie Wickman has a lengthy and fascinating list of accomplishments – including working on NASA's Hubble Space Telescope, launching a non-profit called Starry Nights Inc, and playing professional women's tackle football.

We’ll see you at FLDWRK this Sunday, 9am!

The first candle of Advent, representing hope, has been lit.

“As we kick off the advent season this year, let us celebrate as people who have been walking in darkness whose light has come. Let us celebrate as people living in a land of deep darkness whose hope is here. For me, those aren’t just words from the past but present realities, and I know many of you can relate.”

Jeff Tanner began our advent reflections yesterday – read the rest in yesterday’s email!

We’ve got our next For Our Communities Sunday coming up this weekend!

In one of our Sunday reflections, Jill Arbini said “proximity changes perception.” Being close to a community and really getting to know them is one way we can be for the health of our communities – join us on Sunday as we connect over our challenges and celebrations in the communities we’re committed towards!

Last weekend we sat with five areas James identifies could be roadblocks to being witnesses: considering trials joy, asking God for wisdom and trusting you’ll receive it, hoarding and trusting in money, using words that are kind and life-giving with ourselves and others, and caring for the poor.

What challenges or epiphanies came up for you as you took time to discern these roadblocks?

Shane shared this prayer with us from his time in India with Mother Theresa – Dear Jesus, may every person I come in contact with feel your presence in my soul. May I leave your fragrance everywhere I go. Amen.

Redemption Church, may it be so this week as you bear witness to the work Christ is doing in the world.

Redemption Family! This month we get to host Westside Nights and what sounds more fun than making sure the bounce house is a fun and safe place for kids 👀 (especially when free tacos, live music, and connection with our neighbors is involved).

We’d love your help for this dinner party! Sign up at the link in our bio.

“How will you exist in a way that declares the wicked have not won?” –Bethany Molinar

This week we have a group from Redemption and Reunion in Charlotte for a conference with the Christian Community Development Association. Thankful for this chance to learn together, with believers across the country that are also committing towards caring for the health of their communities!

We are so excited to announce our November Exploration guest, Shane Claiborne! This month, we’ll be turning our attention to the book of James with In Christ: We are Witnesses.

Shane Claiborne is a prominent speaker, activist, and best-selling author. Shane worked with Mother Teresa in Calcutta, and founded The Simple Way in Philadelphia. He heads up Red Letter Christians, a movement of folks who are committed to living "as if Jesus meant the things he said." Shane is a champion for grace which has led him to jail advocating for the homeless, and to places like Iraq and Afghanistan to stand against war. Now, grace fuels his passion to end the death penalty and help stop gun violence.

Shane has written many books including Jesus for President, Common Prayer, and Follow Me to Freedom. We have several of his books in our Redemption Library (you can find the link in our bio). Along with his writing, Shane has been featured in a number of films and he speaks both nationally and internationally.

We'll see you Sunday, November 6th at FLDWRK for our next Family gathering!
