Some of the places that need hope the most are the places the world can easily forget.

We had the privilege of stepping inside Juvenile Hall & the Youth Guidance Center—not just to bring a program, but to bring a message:

You are not forgotten.
You are not your mistakes.
Your story is not over.

Through worship, the Word of God, & simply showing up, we get to remind these young people that their lives still have purpose & that Jesus meets us even in the darkest places.

We believe hope belongs everywhere—even behind locked doors.
Because the 28 young boys we met is worth reaching.
Every story is worth fighting for & no one is beyond the reach of God.

Shining in the Darkness | August 22, 2026

On August 22nd, NorthEast of the Well hosted our 16th Annual Gala, bringing together donors, church partners, volunteers, & friends who wanted to learn more about the mission God has entrusted to us.

Our founder & executive director, Laura Johnson-Suk, shared the story of how NorthEast began & how God has continued to lead us to where the need is. Through powerful testimonies from people in our community whose lives have been forever changed, & worship that filled a room of 250, we were reminded of what God is doing through this ministry.

Wherever we go, we will continue to bring hope through worship & the Word of God, meeting people caught in cycles of addiction & the bo***ge of human trafficking, modern-day slavery that continues to impact our communities.

As NorthEast continues to grow, we need more than financial support. We need boots on the ground. We need people willing to show up, serve, build relationships, & walk alongside those searching for freedom.

To everyone who joined us, to those who faithfully give, to our church partners, volunteers, & to every person who continues to walk alongside NorthEast – Thank You.

Together, we will continue to bring light into the darkness.

From The Streets To Purpose | A Life Transformed.💙
Briona shares her powerful story of growing up in the juvenile hall system, walking through addiction, & experiencing the realities of human trafficking.

Through it all, her life took a turn when she said yes to Jesus—stepping into freedom, healing, & purpose. Discipled through NorthEast of the Well, Briona now stands on the other side of her story, not just restored, but transformed.

Today, she’s part of the team—bringing hope, truth, & the love of Jesus to others who come from similar backgrounds. Her story is a reminder that no one is too far gone & that freedom is possible for everyone.

It was an honor to gather with those who feel called to bring the light into the darkest places. Together, we shared the heart behind Outcast to Witness, Voice for the Voiceless, & Beyond the Well, while inviting others to discover how their unique gifts can make an eternal impact.

From Orange County to Los Angeles County, every conversation, every prayer, & every willing heart reminded us that God is building something beautiful through His people.

We were honored to host our very first Volunteer Interest Gathering—an evening filled with worship, testimony, vision, & community. It was such a gift to gather with those who feel called to join us in bringing the light into the darkest places.

We shared the heart behind each arm of the ministry—Outcast to Witness, Voice for the Voiceless, & Beyond the Well— & explored the many ways people can use their gifts to serve. From Orange County to Los Angeles County, every role matters, & every “yes” makes an impact.

Some of the most powerful moments happen in places people often overlook.

This past Sunday, NorthEast of the Well had the opportunity to spend time at Juvenile Hall & the Youth Guidance Center, continuing our mission of bringing worship, testimony, & the Word to those who need hope the most.

From recovery programs & safe homes to the streets of Figueroa, we’ve seen firsthand that hope can reach people wherever they are. There’s something powerful about watching a young person who feels lost, forgotten, or written off begin to believe there’s still purpose ahead.

We’ve seen walls come down, conversations open up, & hope spark back to life. Moments like these remind us that no one is beyond reach & that a single encounter can make a lasting impact.

These are the moments that keep us going—because hope can reach anyone, anywhere.

On May 16th, we went where the need is, & God opened the doors for us to take a stand against human trafficking in the city of Compton.

Our Director of Anti-Human Trafficking, Irma Drummond, made the valiant effort of organizing this awareness march in a location where we have personally encountered many of the women we minister to. We are deeply grateful to First United Methodist Church of Compton for opening their doors to us for a time of worship before we took to the streets — lifting signs with scripture, raising our voices, & standing as a voice for the voiceless.

As worship began, the community took notice. Some stopped to share how grateful they were that someone was finally addressing this issue with compassion & care. Together, our voices echoed through the streets with one message: people are not for sale.

But it doesn’t end here. There is a darkness that lingers in the backyards of both Orange County & LA County, & we will continue to bring the light of Christ wherever He sends us — trusting God to do the rest.
