I’m sharing this because it’s so much of what we discussed on Monday at our monthly meeting. I hope this encourages you!
🌷 I’m just saying: If it does, maybe you don’t have a good idea of what a powerful, glorious, effective, and downright fun position this is.
🌷I was the youngest of three kids growing up and when chess was played, I was offered the position of “jailer.” It was my job to keep track of the unimportant pieces, the ones that weren’t part of the game anymore. As you may have guessed, it wasn’t the best position and it did not capture my fancy all the time. 😂
🌷 Many Christian women take Scripture like Titus 2 as though it is God setting us up with a little something to keep us busy while all the important action goes on elsewhere. Other people get to actually *play* the game, but apparently women are to be off stage doing work that doesn’t matter, isn’t important to the game itself, and has no value other than keeping you out of sight and busy.
🌷 If you think this way about your work at home, about God’s directives in Scripture to women specifically, about the value of what you are trying to accomplish - no wonder if it is all feeling joyless and pointless and directionless. That *would be* a bit of a bummer if it was true.
🌷 But have you considered that your assumptions might be wrong? Have you considered that you might have accepted a lie about your role, and that in doing so you might be making yourself ineffective?
🌷 The enemy only has to deceive you once this way. After that you can carry on his work with self pity, complaining, anger, bitterness, resentment, envy. If you really get carried away you can start doubting Scripture and making up alternative translations to obvious passages - that’s been done too!
🌷 What we need is for Christian women to unapologetically embrace Scripture - to joyfully pursue what they have been called to, TRUSTING God that this is for His glory and our good. And you know what? When you start walking in that truth- the views! The views are hopeful, and glorious, and significant. This is no runner up of a calling, it is kingdom building GLORY.
