We had Church in the park
this morning with Bethal Baptist Church. It is a tradition to have it the day after the Cosby Picnic back in the day and now the Cosby Watermelon Festival. As you can tell by the flag, there was a nice steady breeze which helped with the warm weather.

Deuteronomy 6:4-9
Oh Israel, listen: oh Israel, the Lord is our God, God alone. You must love him with all your heart, soul, and might. And you must think constantly about these Commandments I’m giving you today. You must teach them to your children and talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you get up. Tie them on your finger and wear them on your forehead, and write them on the Door post of your home.

“You have searched me, LORD,
and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue
you, LORD, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.
Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,”
even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.

Do I not hate those who hate you, LORD,
and abhor those who are in rebellion against you?
I have nothing but hatred for them;
I count them my enemies.
Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.”
Psalm 139:1-12, 21-24

“Blessed are those whose ways are blameless,
who walk according to the law of the LORD.
Blessed are those who keep his statutes
and seek him with all their heart—
they do no wrong
but follow his ways.
You have laid down precepts
that are to be fully obeyed.
Oh, that my ways were steadfast
in obeying your decrees!
Then I would not be put to shame
when I consider all your commands.
I will praise you with an upright heart
as I learn your righteous laws.
I will obey your decrees;
do not utterly forsake me.” Psalm 119:1-8

Call to Worship
Praise the Lord.
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation.
Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who have pleasure in them.
Full of honor and majesty are the works of the Lord whose righteousness endures forever,
who has caused his wonderful works to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and merciful.
The Lord provides food for the faithful and is ever mindful of his covenant.

The Lord has shown his people the power of his works by giving them the heritage of the nations.
The works of the Lord’s hands are faithful and just; the precepts of the Lord are trustworthy; they are established forever and ever, to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness.
The Lord sent redemption to his people and has commanded his covenant forever. Holy and wondrous is God’s name!
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. The praise of the Lord endures forever. Psalm 111
