“O Divine Mother, I am Thy little babe,
Thy helpless babe, secretly sitting
on Thy lap of immortality. I shall steal
my way to heaven secreted on Thy lap.
In the shelter of Thy lap
I shall steal my way to heaven.”
~ Paramahansa Yogananda

"The joy of meditation is overwhelming! Those who have not gone into the silence of true meditation do not know what real joy is. All the divine emotions—love, compassion, courage, self-sacrifice, humility—would be meaningless without joy. Joy means exhilaration, an expression of the ultimate Bliss."
~ The Divine Romance

God is Love
His plan for creation can be rooted only in love.
Does not that simple thought, rather than erudite reasonings,
offer solace to the human heart?
Every saint who has penetrated to the core of Reality
has testified that a divine universal plan exists
and that it is beautiful and full of joy.

WHY WAS THE SPELLING OF PARAMAHANSAJI'S TITLE CHANGED?

THE MEANING AND SPELLING OF THE TITLE 'PARAMAHANSA'
(ARTICLE SUMMARY) Paramahansaji received this highest spiritual title from his Guru Sri Yukteswarji during his visit back to India in 1935-36. The witness to this event who was Bengali used the Bengali spelling when he wrote down the title, without the middle 'a'.
Later, after Paramahansaji's passing, it was decided that the spelling be changed to the standard transliteration of the Sanskrit (the title Paramahansa is a Sanskrit title).
Included is also a detailed explanation from Paramahansaji himself about the importance of determining correct roots in Sanskrit in order to avoid ‘terrible mistakes’ in interpretations of meanings. (Paramahansaji’s teachings are based in Sanskrit, not Bengali.)
Also included is a quote from Mrinalini Mata about the importance of Sanskrit to Paramahansaji’s spiritual stature among the great Vedic sages and the stature of his teachings among the great Vedic/Sanskrit scriptures of India.
[See also a link to an article concerning the Shankaracharya, the head of the ancient Swami Order of India to which Paramahansaji and the SRF Monastic Order belong, who was a world-renowned Sanskrit scholar who was visiting SRF during the time of the Sanskrit spelling change during his visit to America hosted by SRF in June,1958.

Sanskrita, “polished, complete.” Sanskrit is the elder sister of all Indo-European tongues. Its alphabetical script is called Devanagari; literally, “divine abode.” “Who knows my grammar knows God!” Panini, great philologist of ancient India, paid that tribute to the mathematical and psychological perfection of Sanskrit. He who would track language to its lair must indeed end as omniscient. [Footnote 1]
