Dear UUCC Members and Friends,
Thank you for your continued support for the church we love and
cherish! As spring arrives and we review the 2025-2026 church year,

we are happy to report that we are reaching out to a larger community of people who value our historic church, its place in the development of Cortland, and our values.

For many of us, a large part of our love for this congregation is our
physical 1837 Cobblestone Church. We take great pride in its history and the "bigger ideals" it stands for in our community. This winter we were able to replace the front entrance stairs through the generosity of our larger community and friends. Now we can open the front doors!
These last few years, we have been proud to support Community Arts Programs & Outreach. We are currently raising friends and funds through classical music concerts, an ongoing coffee house, writers' events, and used book and rummage sales. We have also hosted CAPCO Early

Childhood Education classes and programs by the Cortland County Historical Society. We are delighted by this increase in community use—including organ crawls, memorials, and mutual aid—but our growing popularity makes maintaining our historic home even more vital.

In the 2026-2027 church year, we plan to continue our outreach to increase our visibility. We have received new grant funds to help us reach more people through enhanced social media and website updates. We also received a grant to help us commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr speaking in our historic building in

1956 – we hope you’ll join in our celebration on Saturday October 17, 2026. But these grant funds are specific to programming; so the preservation of our physical "Cobblestone" home relies on us.

At this juncture, we ask for your help: your input, your participation, and your generosity. We invite you to consider what UUCC means to you and this community, and to pledge generously to support our mission and our historic home.

Please mail the enclosed pledge form to UUCC Treasurer, Marion Lutz, 7 Holley Dr., Homer, NY 13077, or
send an email to [email protected] with your pledge information. Thank you for the support of our members, donors, and friends in Cortland and around the world.

Sincerely,

Marion Lutz and Susan Weitz

This past Sunday's service, "Rooted in Solidarity" was provided in January by the UUA for congregations whose ministers were answering a Call to Action in Minneapolis. The service is available at UUA.org at the link below.

I want you to know that the service mentions slavery, violence, and reproductive justice.

https://www.uua.org/worship/words/complete-service/rooted-solidarity

A complete service, focusing on how Unitarian Universalists have shown up in struggles for justice, written as clergy are called to witness in Minneapolis.

Looking for community you can join from your sofa? Join us on Zoom!

Do you live quite a distance from Cortland? Do you work on Sunday mornings? Do you just like to stay home in the mornings? If you answered yes to any of these, please consider joining us for Sunday morning worship services via Zoom. All our services are multi-platform – meaning that they are in person at church, but also available through the wonders of technology to those who cannot attend physically, or just prefer to attend from home.

Zoom is a free service that allows you to connect online to view the service. It also provides for interaction, if you would like to participate. For example, our Zoom folks are invited to submit their Joys & Concerns, which are included in the services. Also, there is always a short social time provided after the service for our virtual attendees, where folks can have conversation and connection. No computer? You can join with just your phone!

The link to connect to the Zoom services is provided in the UUCAS newsletter, and also in the , weekly reminders of upcoming services. If you would like to participate, but aren’t sure how to set it up and would like help with that, please contact Rev. Darcey. She will make arrangements for someone to contact you to help.

We always love to see folks at church, but if you can’t make it there, please join us on Zoom!
