Hi Veterans and families!

Two books I highly recommend for you are 1) Resilient Warriors by Robert F. Dees (2011) and 2) After The War Zone: A Practical Guide for Returning Troops and Their Families by Laurie Slone, Ph.D., and Matthew Friedman, Ph.D. (2008).

These books are chock full of helpful information for both vets and their families. They offer wonderful insight, understanding, and solutions for deployment-related problems. I know life can be rough (very rough, in fact, but you know this already). A little understanding goes a very long way.

Posttraumatic growth IS possible. These resources are a great investment on your road to recovery.

"Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times..."
Isaiah 33:6a NKJV

The Lord stores up sound wisdom for the upright (righteous). If you lack wisdom, ask Him. He gives liberally and without reproach. In this time of chaos and uncertainty, we need wisdom to discern the time and season we are in. Things are not always what they seem. Sometimes we need to have a deeper look and deeper understanding of the time we're in. Ask the Father for wisdom, without wavering, and He will give it to you. Remember, the righteous will not be moved - this is a wonderful promise.

Faithfulness is our Father's character. It's who He is. He does not change. You can rest assured in His love and faithfulness towards us. Remember His character - faithful and true.

If you see someone going through life enduring one failure, disappointment or hardship after another, pray for them. Instead of criticizing and belittling them, lift them up in prayer. It may very well be that the Lord has a special calling on their lives but the enemy is doing everything in his power to take them out.
