Today is Shrove Tuesday, the day that leads us to the beginning of Lent.

Shrove Tuesday has long been a moment to pause before Lent begins, to look honestly at our lives and to seek God’s forgiveness and grace.

As Lent approaches, Shrove Tuesday reminds us that repentance is not about shame or fear but about returning to God with openness and trust.

Bible reading: Psalm 51:17
‘The sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.’

Prayer

Merciful God,
as we stand on the threshold of Lent,
help us to be truthful about ourselves
and confident in your compassion.
Give us courage to confess what weighs us down
and grace to receive your forgiveness.
Prepare our hearts for the journey ahead,
that we may walk more faithfully with you.

Amen.

Whether you are a regular church goer or haven't been inside a church in years, you are welcome to get your ashes 'To Go' with us!

Life happens in real time with real people. While we would love for you to join us at St. Bartholomew's for our in church (or attend your church of choice), for Ash Wednesday services, that just isn't always possible. We are here to meet you where you are Now....not where you or someone else 'thinks' you should be.

We will be back in what used to be the old Sunrise Mall parking lot, between Freedom Fitness and Wendy's from sunrise to sunset.
