Roman’s 8:13-14
‘What is governing Us’
“For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.”
There is a lot to glean and think about here. We have been taught to die to the flesh and that we are to crucify the flesh. These verses tell us that we are to put to death sin and our desires in order to be true children of God. Do we understand this?
Being spiritually dead because of sin will absolutely bring consequences upon us. We cannot be alive to Him if indeed we are dead to Him because of sin. Somewhere down the road and throughout the centuries, people have formed doctrines and theologies that make us okay in our disobedience and unfaithfulness, the misdeeds of life and still think that we are children of God. The scriptures tell us otherwise. If we do not die to our sin and misdeeds what will happen to us here and when death finally comes?We will find out that we were not actually children of God, but ourselves and the enemy.
What and who is governing us? Him or us? Are we willing to die to our flesh which desires all that opposed to God rather than remaining faithful to God? Do we truly want to be His child? The we must die to sin and this world so that He will start governing our lives. What we choose will either make or break us both now and forevermore. What will govern us from this day forward~
