Tonight at 6PM at U2C3!

Pride Corpus Christi will hold an event called Shame-Sex Attraction: Survivors' Stories of Conversion Therapy at U2C3.

Join Dr. Lucas Wilson for this Virtual Town Hall on May 26 from 6 PM CST at the Unitarian Universalist Church as he delves into the complex and often harrowing world of conversion therapy through his latest anthology, ‘Shame-Sex Attraction: Survivors’ Stories of Conversion Therapy.’ This event promises to shed light on the damaging effects of conversion practices, particularly within high-control religious contexts. Attendees will gain insights into the history, prevalence, and consequences of these practices, as well as the language and ideology used by therapists. Dr. Wilson, a survivor himself, will share personal motivations and research findings, offering a comprehensive understanding of the topic.

Following the presentation, Dr. Wilson will be joined by Dr. Ana Salazar of Strengthening Wellness and Matt Wood of Woodworks Therapy for a panel discussion exploring clinical, therapeutic, and community-based responses to the harms of conversion practices. Together, they will address how practitioners and advocates can support survivors, foster healing, and work toward ending these practices in our communities.

Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with a critical conversation on LGBTQ+ rights and the ongoing fight against conversion therapy.

This Sunday at U2C3, we explore Dirge for the Charlatans with Rob Allen — a reflection on corruption, truth‑telling, and the legacy of Clay Tiffany’s investigative work. What does it mean to confront power with honesty? And why does a 30‑year‑old story still matter today?

Join us as we look at the courage it takes to uncover uncomfortable truths and the responsibility we share in holding our communities accountable.

Music this week:
Eat the Meek (NoFX)
I Fought the Law (The Clash)

This Sunday, our community spotlight message will be from Liz Cook of the Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation.

This message is a community spotlight on The Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation (CBWF) and the benefits of engaging in community as a vital part of holistic wellness. CBWF is a grass-roots, community-based non-profit organization with a long-standing history of providing services to those in our community who are often disenfranchised, taking on causes to fill gaps in services that no other agency provides.

Liz Cook grew up in Andover, MA, and in the North Parish U.U. Church of N. Andover. She made her way to Corpus Christi through Austin in 2015 when she met her husband, Dale. Liz is a licensed professional counselor who appreciates everyday moments of awe, such as a rare bird sighting or a well-returned pickleball. Liz joined U2C3 in 2026.
