“For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness”
Romans 4:3

The Apostle Paul sought to instruct the Romans concerning the righteousness that is of faith. So, Paul brought to mind the role model of faith, Abraham. Paul reminded his readers of what the old Testament said of Abraham’s faith in Genesis 15... “behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but [your heir] will come from your own body.” He brought him outside and said, ‘Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them. So shall your descendants be.’ And [Abraham]believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.” Because Abraham believed, God put righteousness into his account.

Paul went on to say that if works were required to receive God’s gift of salvation, it would not be a gift, but a debt (4:4). So, a person who is not working but has believed on God who justifies the repented wicked’s faith, it is credited to him as righteousness. Abraham was that kind of man as verse three stated. He was justified not because he worked for it but because he trusted God for his righteousness and salvation.

Today, we too can enjoy the gift of salvation that comes by faith in our Savior Jesus Christ! In dying for our sins, Jesus made atonement on our behalf and cleansed us from our sins. By faith, we too can be as Abraham and be counted as righteous! Thank you Jesus for Your amazing gift of righteousness that You grant to believers! You Jesus, deserve all the glory and honor for it all!

Due to VBS this week, there will be no midweek service tonight! Continue to pray for those volunteering and the kids attending VBS! We will meet next Wednesday for our Worship night and Dessert in the Courtyard!
