“Peace I leave with you My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
John 14:27
With all the threats that are being made by governments around the world, you might wonder if Jesus’ words to His disciples are possible today. Thankfully, Jesus is the eternal God of the universe. His words stand as true today as they did when He first spoke to them. So, when Jesus spoke to His disciples concerning His peace, it was a guarantee of His peace continuing throughout the ages. The only prerequisite for having this peace is being a child of God. Without faith, it is impossible to please God as the writer of Hebrews said. So, the faith of a child of God allows that child to experience God’s peace even when the rest of the world is in total chaos.
Dr. David Jeremiah once said, “A calm confidence in God and the ability to bring harmony where there is conflict is the peace God gives.” How encouraging is it then for the believer to experience God’s peace when the rest of the world is in chaos. So let us take heed to Jesus’ promise to experiencing His peace in a world gone mad and rest in our faith in Jesus today and be blessed by God’s peace.
