Diocese invited to join Commission on LGBTQ+ Ministries at L.A. Pride June 14

The Bishop’s Commission on LGBTQ+ Ministries warmly invites the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles community and friends to join the Annual L.A. Pride Parade on Sunday, June 14 at 11 a.m.

"This year’s LA Pride theme, 'Rising with Pride,' calls us to show up with courage, joy, and faith — bearing witness to the Way of Love in the heart of our city," planners say. "As a diocese, our presence at Pride is more than participation—it is proclamation. Together, we embody a Church that celebrates, affirms, and stands alongside LGBTQ+ people as beloved children of God. We will gather as an official diocesan parade contingent, offering a visible and faithful witness of inclusion and love. A Holy Eucharist service will be offered prior to the parade, with Bishop-elect Rev. Dr. Antonio José Gallardo Lucena grounding our witness in prayer and community."

“Now more than ever, we are called to be visible in our faith in Christ—proclaiming that all of God’s children deserve dignity, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity,” said Thomas Diaz, chair of the Bishop’s Commission on LGBTQ+ Ministries. “We are called to be bearers of that love, making it known that the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles not only welcomes you, but affirms that all LGBTQ+ people are beloved children of God.”

Registration is required to be part of our diocesan parade contingent. To sign up as an individual or as a congregation, please email: [email protected]. Registration link and additional details to come.

A simple skein of yarn can become a powerful reminder of God's love.

The St. Michael's Prayer Shawl Ministry gathers on Fridays at 10:00 a.m. to knit and crochet prayer shawls that bring comfort, warmth, and encouragement to those facing illness, grief, recovery, or other challenges. As we stitch, we pray—for the recipients of the shawls, for our parish, and for one another.

Whether you're an experienced knitter, a beginner, or have never picked up a crochet hook before, you'll find a welcoming and supportive group. Yarn, needles, and instructions are provided. Come spend an hour in prayer, fellowship, and creative ministry, helping wrap others in God's love one stitch at a time.

On this Memorial Day, let us pray this collect to remember all who have died in the course of U.S. military service.

Almighty God, we commend to your gracious care and keeping those who serve in our armed forces at home and abroad. As we remember this Memorial Day all those who sacrificed themselves for our nation’s ideals, defend with your heavenly grace all who risk themselves in these times; strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
