Decoration Day at Beechwood will be Sunday, May 10. Volunteers will be at the cemetery beginning Friday afternoon through Sunday evening to accept donations. Mowing continues to be expensive and so was the new road. We continue to need your monetary support and hope you'll find a way to increase that amount to help replenish funds used for the paving job. If you cannot attend this weekend, contributions may be sent to Beechwood Cemetery, c/o Judy Stewart, 206 Frontview St, Cornersville TN 37047.

Look at the great help getting the little building ready for Decoration Day! Teaching them young that it takes a village to take care of the cemetery.
Decoration Day is this weekend. Volunteers will be at the gate accepting donations for perpetual care. If you haven't already done so by mail, consider stopping by and making a donation. Pick up a financial statement so that you can see how much money is required to care for the cemetery.

It was a good day to clean up the cemetery. We removed a tree and a tree-sized bush, groomed a few more trees, picked up lots of fallen branches, and removed last year's flowers. The cemetery is ready for Decoration Day. Thanks to all of these folks for the great help.

Our annual cemetery meeting will be Monday, April 1 at 6:00 pm. It will be held at the Town Hall in Cornersville this year due to a scheduling conflict with the Lion's Club building. Remember, if you have family buried there, plan to be buried there or are just interested in the continuing upkeep of the cemetery, you are a part of the association and are encouraged to attend.

There has been quite a stir about an event called "Tea Time for Witches and Goths" supposedly scheduled for Decoration Day weekend at our cemetery. I reached out to the organizer and explained to her that the cemetery was private property and that the association would have to grant permission for any kind of event. I told her that the cemetery was meant to be a solemn place and that a gala or celebratory event would be out of line. She was very understanding and cordial with her reply, so please, while we may not understand the motives and disagree with the idea, refrain from name calling. The event will not take place.
I'm excited, in a way, that this has brought attention to the cemetery. I hope that those who have been concerned about this event will remain concerned about the day to day care and upkeep that is involved with the cemetery. Get involved with the association. There is much more to do than ban having tea with witches.
We will have our annual meeting on April 1. Plan to attend.
