Unity of Lake Norman: Spiritual, not Religious

Unity of Lake Norman: Spiritual, not Religious Everyone is welcome! Sundays: 11:00am Celebration Gathering. We offer a positive uplifting approach to Christianity, while honoring all spiritual paths.

WHAT IS UNITY?
=====================================
Unity is a positive, practical, progressive approach to Christianity based on the teachings of Jesus and the power of affirmative prayer. Unity honors the universal truths in all religions and respects each individual’s right to choose a spiritual path.

5 BASIC PRINCIPLES OF UNITY
=====================================
God (a.k.a. Creator, Sp

irit, Universe, Source Energy, Divine Intelligence) is the Source and Creator of all. There is no other enduring power. God is good and present everywhere. We are spiritual beings created in God's image. The spirit of God lives within each of us; therefore, all people are inherently good. Our truest nature is divine and our potential is limitless. It is called by many names – we call it Christ-Consciousness. We create our life experiences through our way of thinking, feeling and acting. We have the ability to choose. There is power in meditation and affirmative prayer. We use these tools to bring our awareness into alignment with the Christ-Consciousness. Knowledge of these spiritual principles is the first step. We choose to live them. Unity is a way of life. GOD
=====================================
God is Spirit, the loving source of all that is. God is the one power, all good, all wisdom, everywhere present, . God is divine energy, continually creating, expressing and sustaining all creation. In God, we live and move and have our being. In Unity, some other ways we speak of God are Life, Light, Love, Substance, Principle, Law and Universal Mind. JESUS
=====================================
We believe that Jesus expressed his divine potential and sought to show humankind how to express ours as well. We see Jesus as a master teacher of universal truths and as our way-shower. In Unity, we use the term "Christ" to mean the divinity in humankind. Jesus is the great example of the Christ in expression. THE NATURE OF HUMANKIND
=====================================
We are each individual eternal expressions of God. Our essential nature is divine and, therefore, inherently good. Our purpose is to express our divine potential as realized and demonstrated by Jesus and other master teachers. The more we awaken to our divine nature, the more fully God expresses in and through our lives. THE BIBLE
=====================================
Unity co-founders, Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, studied the Bible as history and allegory, and interpreted it as a metaphysical representation of humankind’s evolutionary journey toward spiritual awakening. In addition, Unity recognizes that the Bible is a complex collection of writings compiled over many centuries. We honor the writings as reflecting the understanding and inspiration of the writers at the time they were written. Scriptures come alive when they are understood as a clear and helpful guide for today's experiences. UNITY TEACHES AND EMPHASIZES...
=====================================
• That each person is a unique expression of God created with sacred worth. Living from that awareness transforms our lives and the world.

• The creative power of thought in our life experience. We refer to this as the "Law of Mind Action." When we take personal responsibility to choose life affirming thoughts, words and actions, we experience a more fulfilling and abundant life.

• The importance of applying spiritual principles in our daily lives.

• To continue to evolve as we identify, embrace and apply spiritual insights and the spiritual implications of new discoveries. PRAYER AND MEDITATION
=====================================
Affirmative prayer is the highest form of creative thought. It includes the release of counterproductive, negative thoughts as well as holding in mind statements of spiritual truth. Through meditation, we experience the presence of God. Prayer and meditation heighten our awareness and thereby transform our lives. YOUTH AND FAMILY
=====================================
Unity recognizes that there are many expressions of family life. All are welcome, we are an inclusive community. Unity creates an affirming environment that fosters positive self image, personal responsibility and unconditional love and acceptance. SPIRITUAL ACTIONS
=====================================
In Unity, we feel a sacred responsibility, individually and collectively, to make a positive difference through personal example and active service in our spiritual community, our local community and our world.

"The Only Thing to Fear... Is FEAR Itself"
Rev. Jacqueline Grace

Fear... feeling afraid doesn't feel very good, does it? And yet, we succumb to out fears more than we would like to admit. Like... a lot! Of course, we do our best to stuff it or pretend that it isn't there, but as Dr. Phil would ask: "How's that workin' for ya?" Our fears sabotage our success in life, the peace we all desire, and the abundant life were promised by Jesus (our indwelling Christ spirit).

The world today is FULL of fear that robs each of us of our peace and joy. Some top of mind fears include: Corona-virus, political leadership & division, nuclear & terrorist attacks, growing economic divide, healthcare quality & costs, climate change/global warming, quality of food, enough money to live on, loneliness, death (ours or our loved ones), change, ... the list is endless.

So together we are going to delve into fear. We're going to examine some ways to deal with, diminish, and eradicate our fears with tools to look fear straight in the face and move through it. Come... and get ready to leave your fears behind.

We welcome your friends and family to come with you! Come feel the love...

"It's a Leap Year - What's the Proposal Within You Ready to Leap into Manifestation?" - Rev. Jacqueline Grace

Let's celebrate! 2020 is a Leap Year, when once every four years we are given the "gift" of another day, another 86,400 seconds to create, to play, to manifest our dreams! And according to folk lore, it was only on a Leap Year that a woman was allowed to "propose" marriage to a man. Well, we certainly have "come a long way, baby!" But I think this special year, with this extra-special day bears our attention and creative juices.

Come prepared to share and discuss the "proposals" that have been perhaps lying dormant within you. This is YOUR Year to make it happen with Faith, Belief, Intention, Visualization, Focus, and Willpower to keep your powerful mind on your Target. What do you believe is POSSIBLE? Great Tools! Great Minds! Great Creations!

We welcome your friends and family to come with you! Come feel the love...

"Who is Presiding in Your Life?"
- Rev. Jacqueline Grace

Given President's Day this coming Monday we will examine what it means to "preside". There are always lessons available to us for greater awareness and growth in our daily lives. And our president has certainly been in the news the last few weeks. What is there for us to learn and grow from as we view the OUTER occurrences from an INNER spiritual perspective? What power do you have to "ELECT" the events of your life?

We welcome your friends and family to come with you! Come feel the love...

The Global "LOVE Train" - Rev. Jacqueline Grace

Next Friday is Valentine's Day... a day where we have the "Hallmark construct" of focusing on those we love. Often it is associated with a romantic love partner and that is a good thing, for sure. But there are times when we may not be in a romantic partnership and so this day can have feelings of inadequacy or sadness that we are not involved in a romance with another.

However... we are so much MORE than loving one "Special Someone." We have so much love inside us that we can actually light up the whole World!

And that is our "assignment" - each one of us - to cast off untruths so we can love way more and bigger than we ever have before. For Love is what we ARE. God is... LOVE! Therefore, I AM... LOVE! This is in our spiritual DNA. This is our natural state. This is our natural vibration. And we can dam our flow of love by mis-judging, mis-interpreting facial expressions, voice inflection, words and actions of others.

So what can we DO about it? Come find out how you can easily jump on the LOVE TRAIN and spread love around the globe. And not a train that has only two participants, but one that includes, enfolds and encircles the whole GLOBE! Choo-Choo! Come make the Jump!

We welcome your friends and family to come with you! Come feel the love...

The SHADOW Effect (aka Blind Spots)
Rev. Jacqueline Grace

Sunday is Groundhog Day where the groundhog comes up from his burrow to see if he sees his shadow. If he does, he gets scared and runs back into his burrow, predicting six more weeks of winter weather. No shadow means an early spring.

And that is often how some of us interact with our Shadow, our darker side. It scares us when it shows up, and we dive back down in to unawareness. Which all in all is not a very effective. Carl Jung referred to the shadow as our blind spots. Things we are not aware of lurking in and popping up unexpectedly in our life experience repetitively.

But our shadow is actually a very important part of us. And we're not truly free until we are free of our shadow, nor are we whole and complete. So let's "get to digging" for some workable solutions and ways to identify them, and access the wonderful gifts they were always intended to be!

We welcome your friends and family to come with you! Come feel the love...

"What You See Is What You Get (or Got!)"
Rev. Jacqueline Grace

"Mirror, mirror of my life, help me see with way less strife!"

Because we are all mirrors for each other, looking at the people in our lives can tell us a lot about ourself - "IF" we're willing to look "rightly" - and not righteously! Who we are can be laid bare to us through what we see in others. It is easy to see the traits we do not like in others. It is much more difficult to realize that we possess those same traits - perhaps to a greater or lesser degree. Often, the habits, attitudes, and behaviors of others are closely linked to our unconscious and unresolved issues.

When we come into contact with someone we admire, it is wise to search our soul for similarly admirable traits. Likewise, when we meet someone exhibiting traits that we dislike, the gift is to accept that we are looking at OUR reflection. Looking at ourself through our perception of others can be a humbling and eye-opening experience. And... there is great power in this new vision of seeing everyone as a gift, as a blessing.

So once we are willing to see ourselves reflected in others.... what do we do THEN? Come and explore how to powerfully use our powers of openness willingness to see the parts of of our shadow side and how to diffuse them so we can live a freer and fuller life.

We welcome your friends and family to come with you! Come feel the love...

Celebration Gathering - Sunday, January 19th at 11:00 am

"Beauty From Ashes"
Guest Speaker: Diana Marracchini

Diana Marraccini will share her spiritual healer path of overcoming a horrific childhood and two NDE's (near death experience). Q & A will follow the presentation. Balboa Press of Hay House is encouraging Diana to put her experiences into a book, so perhaps we can add our encouragement!

If you've read the New York Times best selling book: "Dying to Be Me" by Anita Moorjani (2,849 4.5 star reviews), you won't want to miss this opportunity to hear Diana's story.
"After horrific childhood traumas that compelled her to run away at age 15, live out of her car for nearly 3 years, extreme complications during two pregnancies that led to the death of her first baby, two NDE’s, and having a son that experienced developmental delays, Diana has dedicated her life to helping others experience a deep transformation and healing in their own lives. Diana’s NDE’s compelled her on a long spiritual pursuit that led her to the ancient spiritual mystery teachings of our past and to the Shamanic teachings of her Native American heritage. Her relentless pursuit of knowledge to support natural healing has led her to a diverse and extraordinary body of knowledge and a truly unique skill set.

Diana’s unwavering passion and commitment for helping others has inspired her to become certified and proficient in countless modalities such as Biofeedback, Health and Wellness Coaching, Human Design, Reiki and Core Shamanism. With all of her vast experiences, Diana’s intention and mission is to be a container for true healing so people can experience personal freedom and create a life of abundance and joy."

We welcome your friends and family to come and experience this beautiful service with you! Come feel the love...
