Appalachia Service Project 2026 ✝️🔨
This may have been Mt. Zion’s 37th year serving with Appalachia Service Project, but there is nothing routine about what God does through this ministry.
This year, we were especially blessed to have two friends from Huntersville UMC join us. They didn’t just come along—they became family and completed our teams in the best way.
Together, our church sent four crews to Grundy, Virginia, with one mission: to make homes warmer, safer, and drier. But we know the work has always been about so much more than repairing houses.
It was about showing up. Listening to stories. Sharing laughter around a picnic. Praying with homeowners. Giving a mother confidence. Building friendships. Being reminded that Christ was already present long before we arrived—and that we simply had the privilege of joining in His work.
We came to serve, but as always, we left changed.
Thank you to every homeowner who welcomed us, every volunteer who gave of themselves so freely, every person who prayed for us from home, and to God for going before us every step of the way. Thank you to our congregation for continuing to support this ministry.
