First Baptist Church Library Corinth, MS

First Baptist Church Library Corinth, MS A ministry of First Baptist Church committed to enriching the lives of believers. http://firstbaptistcorinth.org

History: February 15, 1943 is the date the first books were recorded in the FBC library. Between that date and August, 1956, 1000 books were added. Between 1956 and 1960, there was a period of inactivity, but a report dated April, 1960 states that the library was “revived” in 1959, and “is being built up to meet the needs of our people.” Mrs. Percy Richardson served as librarian until 1975 when s

he became too ill to continue in this ministry. Interest was revived and much growth, including the addition of “slides, filmstrips and visual aids equipment,” took place during those years. The library space was tripled in 1976, and then in 2003 moved to a convenient location on the main level between the sanctuary and the fellowship hall. In addition to books, varied media formats, such as audio books, DVDs, compact discs, audio and video-based study kits are available. The library ministry continues to honor the early vision of meeting needs by keeping up with technology. The computer-based catalog helps people locate items quickly and library processing and management is more efficient with the use of the computer. You may also search the catalog from any computer with an internet connection. All members and guests of the church family are invited to use the resources and services of this ministry.

Family devotions for Easter! We have a packet available for families to pick up that contain instructions, a devotion booklet, a cross to remind you, and stickers to count the days. You can stop by the Church Library to pick yours up. Separately we have coloring sheets that go along with each devotion. When finished they fit together to make a lovely cross.

Book club is back! We will meet a little early for the winter months. I hope to see everyone, and a few new faces, at the College House on January 23rd at 5:30 PM. We're going to have taco soup. Bring your favorite bowl, and we'll fill it up. (If you forget, we'll make sure you get some.)

Come check out some of the new titles we have in the Church Library including this one by one of our favorite authors!

The June Book Club book is Karen Kingsbury! We will read "Someone Like You" (make sure the cover has a nest on it). On June 20th, the Women's Ministry is showing the movie in the Fellowship Hall. Then we will meet on June 27th to compare and contrast the two. It's a unique opportunity, and I am excited that we are going to be able to do this. It's going to be fun!

We need volunteers. The mission of the Church Library is to provide resources and services to the organizations and members of the church and those to whom they witness, in order to support the mission of First Baptist Church. In other words, we are "Equipping the Church".

We need people who like to do crafts, read books, enjoy organizing, or even decorating. We do a lot of different things! Come by and check us out.
