Be an Influence for Jesus
Scripture: Matthew 5:16 – “...that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”
Our world is full of influencers. Social media tells us to build followers, gain attention, and create the perfect image. Jesus points us in a completely different direction.
He isn't interested in helping us become popular. He's interested in helping us influence people for the glory of God. That's a much greater calling.
Whether someone watches your life at work, at school, in your neighborhood, or even online, they should see something different. They should see kindness instead of cruelty, encouragement instead of criticism, humility instead of pride, and grace instead of anger. Those qualities don't draw attention to us—they point people to Jesus.
The world already has enough influencers. What it desperately needs is faithful disciples whose lives consistently reflect Christ.
Let's make it our goal today to leave people thinking more about Jesus than about ourselves.
If someone watched your life this week, what would most clearly point them to Jesus?

Let God Shine Through You
Scripture: Matthew 5:16 – “Let your light shine before others...”
One word in this verse is easy to overlook: LET.
Jesus doesn't tell us to manufacture our own light. He tells us to let it shine. That means our job is surrender, not performance. As we stay close to Jesus and allow the Holy Spirit to work in us, His character becomes visible through our lives.
What does that look like? It looks like the Beatitudes in action. It means showing humility instead of pride, mercy instead of revenge, purity instead of compromise, making peace instead of stirring conflict, and choosing righteousness even when it's difficult.
As we live like Kingdom citizens, people begin to notice something different. They see hope in difficult moments. They hear truth spoken with love. Those moments become opportunities for others to see Jesus.
The closer we walk with Christ, the brighter His light shines through us.
What is one area of your life that you need to surrender to God so His light can shine more clearly?

Don't Hide the Light
Scripture: Matthew 5:16 – “Let your light shine before others….”
It wouldn't make much sense to turn on a flashlight and then stick it in your pocket. The light is there, but no one benefits from it because it's hidden.
Sometimes we do the same thing with our faith. We stay quiet when we should speak with kindness. We blend in when God calls us to stand out. We worry more about what people think than what God desires.
Jesus reminds us that His followers aren't meant to hide. A city on a hill can be seen from miles away because light naturally shines. As believers, our lives should also stand out—not because we're trying to get attention, but because Christ is living through us.
The world doesn't need perfect Christians. It needs genuine followers of Jesus who love people, tell the truth, show grace, and live with integrity. That's the kind of light that points others to Christ.
Is there any area of your life where you've been hiding your faith instead of letting it shine?

Shine Where God Has Placed You
Scripture: Matthew 5:15 – “Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket.”
When you flip a light switch, you expect the light to come on. That's what lights are made to do. In the same way, when Jesus changes our lives, He expects us to shine.
Sometimes we think shining for Christ only happens at church. But Jesus had something much bigger in mind. Our mission field is the places we already go every day—our homes, workplaces, schools, neighborhoods, and community. Those are the places where people need to see God's love lived out.
A kind word, an encouraging conversation, an honest decision, or a helping hand can point someone toward Jesus. Small acts of faithfulness often make the biggest impact.
God intentionally placed you where you are. He didn't make a mistake. Today is another opportunity to let His light shine through you right where He has planted you.
Where has God placed you today to be a light for someone else?

The Light Changed Everything
Scripture: Matthew 5:14 – “You are the light of the world.”
Have you ever noticed how one small flashlight changes everything in a dark room? The darkness doesn't argue or fight back—it simply disappears when the light comes on.
That's exactly what Jesus has done in our lives. Before we knew Him, we walked in spiritual darkness. But Jesus, the Light of the World, opened our eyes to our sin and showed us our need for a Savior. Through His death on the cross and His resurrection, He made it possible for us to be forgiven and given new life. Now His light lives in us.
What amazes me is that Jesus doesn't stop at calling Himself the Light of the World. In Matthew 5:14, He turns to His followers and says, "You are the light of the world." What an incredible responsibility and privilege! We don't create the light—we simply reflect the One who lives within us.
Today, remember that wherever you go, you carry the light of Christ with you.
Who in your life needs to see the light of Christ through you today?
