On September 1, 1987, Buster Clemens began serving at Highland as our Youth Minister. For decades, Buster poured into generations of students and families, helping shape lives and build a lasting foundation of faith.

In 2021, Buster transitioned into the role of Executive Minister, continuing to serve Highland with wisdom, leadership, humility, and a deep love for this church family.

Today marks 39 years of faithful ministry at Highland. Buster, thank you for the countless hours, conversations, prayers, laughs, lessons, and ways you have served behind the scenes and out front. Highland is a better place because of your faithful service.

On August 15, 1968, Jim Chester began leading worship at Highland. Yesterday, he stepped up to lead once again—beginning his 59th year of helping our church worship together.

For generations, Jim’s voice, heart, and faithful leadership have helped point Highland toward God. Countless songs, countless Sundays, countless lives impacted by a man who has faithfully used his gifts to serve the church he loves.

What a remarkable legacy of worship. We are incredibly grateful for Jim Chester and 58 years of faithful service to Highland.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered at the School Store at Raleigh Community Church of Christ last Saturday! Because of your willingness to serve, families in our community were able to receive school supplies and support as they prepare for a new school year.

We are also incredibly thankful for the generosity of our entire Highland family. Your giving to our annual Outreach Contribution helps make ministries like the School Store possible year after year. Yesterday, Logan Hollinsaid reminded us that one of the most powerful ways to share the gospel is through hospitality. Every meal, every conversation, and every open door can become an opportunity to say, "You belong here," just as Christ has welcomed us into His family. This week, prayerfully consider one simple step you can take—invite a neighbor, share a meal with a friend, or open your home to someone who could use encouragement. The gospel comes with a house key, and God can use your table to change a life.

Earlier this week, Highland Children's Ministry had the privilege of packing 370 backpacks for Agape. We are so grateful for Laurel Gearson and the time, care, and organization she put into making this project possible. Thank you to all of our adult and teen volunteers who served so faithfully to help fill each backpack. We are thankful for the opportunity to partner together to bless children and families in our community in such a tangible way.
