Today was a special day as HopeWorks, one of Highland’s valued ministry partners, officially opened the doors to The Next Story, a new re-entry housing facility for men transitioning back into society after incarceration.

We were honored to celebrate alongside community leaders, supporters, and contributors, including Memphis Mayor Paul Young, Mark George, Brad Martin, and Reggie Crawford. Eric Gentry had the privilege of praying over the building and all who will walk through its doors in the years ahead.

We are grateful for HopeWorks and their commitment to helping men find hope, stability, and a fresh start. Please join us in praying that The Next Story will be a place of transformation, restoration, and new beginnings for many lives in the years to come.

With sadness and hope in Christ, we share that our beloved sister, Catherine Rowsey, passed away on June 2. Catherine was a cherished part of the Highland family and a beautiful example of faith, courage, and trust in the Lord.

Please join us in praying for Perrin, Emily, Rebecca & Seth, Mary Paige, John Mark Hays, and all who loved Catherine as they grieve and celebrate her life and the hope of the resurrection.

Today marked the final day of Do Good Week, and we couldn’t be more proud of our students. Throughout the week, they served across our city, partnered with amazing local ministries and nonprofits, worked hard, built relationships, and demonstrated the love of Jesus in countless ways.

From serving children and families to helping organizations that care for some of our community’s greatest needs, our teenagers showed that faith isn’t just something we talk about—it’s something we live out. We are grateful for every student, volunteer, ministry partner, and supporter who made this week possible.

Thank you to everyone who prayed for us throughout the week. As Do Good Week comes to a close, our prayer is that these experiences won’t just be a one-week event, but that they will continue to shape hearts that are passionate about serving others and sharing the hope of Christ wherever they go.

There is nothing more beautiful than seeing someone make the decision to follow Jesus. Yesterday, we witnessed Nika Shirokova's decision to give her life to Christ through baptism! What an incredible moment of faith, surrender, and new life. We are so proud of Nika for taking this step and declaring that Jesus is Lord. As a church family, we rejoice with her and look forward to seeing how God continues to work in and through her life. Join us in congratulating Nika and praying for her as she begins this exciting new chapter of faith!

May is Foster Care Awareness Month, and earlier this week Highland was honored to participate in the ribbon cutting celebrating Cordova becoming a Foster Friendly® Community alongside the leadership of Tennessee Kids Belong

The Foster Friendly® Initiative brings together churches, businesses, nonprofits, and community leaders who share a common goal — making Cordova a place where kids find belonging and families are supported. We are thankful that Highland is one of the churches committed to this important work and grateful for everyone helping make a difference in the lives of children and foster families.

What a fun Wednesday night at the HCM HYG Dog Show! We had an awesome time seeing all the dogs show off their personalities, tricks, and style. Huge thanks to Ethan Howard for doing a great job emceeing the event and keeping the night entertaining from start to finish. Shoutout to our interns for serving as judges and helping make the competition so much fun. And of course…thank you to all the dogs (and their owners) for making it a night to remember!

Grace isn’t just forgiveness for where we fall short; it’s the strength that helps us keep growing. If you’re a parent carrying pressure, regret, or exhaustion, this reminder is for you.

As we prepare for our Outreach Contribution, we are reminded of the lives being impacted through the generosity of our church family. Through this special contribution, Highland is able to support missionaries like Clay and Emily Fowler as they begin their kingdom work in Tachikawa, Japan.

In this video, hear from Clay and Emily as they share their heart for the people of Japan and the mission God has called them to. We are grateful to partner with them in spreading the hope of Jesus across the world and excited to see how God will work through their ministry in Tachikawa.

Thank you for helping make opportunities like this possible through your faithful giving and prayers.
