Students of FBC, it's time to get creative! If you are interested in poetry (or just bored and looking for something to do this Saturday)- come join us out at the Corbin Public Library for the teen poetry slam.

Pastor Jeremiah will be reading an original poem or two to open things up and then teens are invited to read some of their own poetry as well as simply come listen!

Should be a good time- would love to see some of yall there.

Out Fall Festival is tonight (Wed, 10/27) from 5:30-7 pm! Come for dinner at 5:30 then trunk or treat and fall festival games inside/outside the FLC. Don’t forget your costume and hope to see you there!

Mental Health is an important part of teenage development. Some helpful thoughts about how to talk to your teenager about this important topic!

"Avoid asking open-ended questions like: “Are you okay?” Instead, ask them questions that involve somewhat lengthy responses like:

“What’s taking up most of your headspace today?”
“What was your favorite part of your day?”
“What was difficult about your day?”
“What load are you carrying that feels particularly heavy today?”
“When was the last time you hung out with your friends?”
“When was the last time you went outside and moved your body?”
“How can I encourage or support you better moving forward?”

Studies show that mental health and substance use had been rising among adolescents even prior to the pandemic.

Happy Sunday everyone! A few reminders for this upcoming week:

1. I think most everyone has let us know they will be out for Sunday Evening Youth this week. But! If you are a youth and are free- we will be recording a video for the lip sync contest this evening at 6 pm up at the church! Text us if you plan on joining so we know to expect you.

2. Due to fall break- there will be no Wednesday Night youth activities this week.

3. We are starting a new series this month: “The Upside Down Kingdom”. Check out the video below and stay tuned to our feed and group text to learn more!
