Spring is here, Easter has past, and this is a good time to challenge ourselves in the area of generosity. Scripture makes it clear that generosity is a mark of a mature Christ follower. Consider the following and challenge yourself to move "up" one generosity style. Not only will you be blessed, but the church will benefit from your generosity which helps us reach people for Jesus, expand His Kingdom here and abroad, and provide various resources to our community and those in need. Enjoy the blessing of generosity as you practice good stewardship of all God has given you!!!
The Extravagant Giver
-This person gives the tithe of their income, but often gives above and beyond it often to projects and special needs. They understand that Scripture expects us to tithe as a foundation of our generosity, but they also understand the added blessing of giving generously
The Obedient Giver
-This person understands the Biblical mandate of tithing and practices this spiritual discipline consistently and as a mark of their spiritual maturity. Their consistency not only is pleasing to God, but also helps the church be financially sound
The Systematic Giver
-This person gives consistently and roughly the same amount, but not a tithe. They are missing out on the full blessing God has in mind for them if they were to tithe
The Tipper
-This person gives occasionally and an inconsistent amount. They might think that their money belongs to them, but Scripture says it belongs to God and we are only stewards. A simple change of mind to a stewardship mindset would help them become a systematic giver.
The Pre-Giver
-This person has either not understood the Scriptural basis for generosity or may be fearful of trusting God with their finances. They're missing out on the blessing that comes from practicing good stewardship and generosity. Generosity is the only thing in God's Word in which God asks us to test Him. It wouldn't take much for them to bump up to The Tipper.
