WHEN SERVING GOD GETS HARD

2 Timothy 2:12, “And if we think that our present service for him is hard, just remember that some day we are going to sit with him and rule with him.”

If you are a child of God there is a wonderful truth from Scripture that you must allow yourself to be reminded of…it is the fact that a sphere of rulership awaits you for all of eternity. The size, scope, extent of your rulership depends solely on your degree of faithful obedience day by day to the Lord. We cannot fathom what that rulership will involve…but God announces that we will “rule” with Him…that is His promise. Your faithful obedience today is mattering for eternity. If you are called to face hardship, keep in mind that some day they will be exchanged for rulership with God.

A WONDERFUL EXCHANGE

2 Corinthians 5:21, “For God took the sinless Christ and poured into him our sins. Then, in exchange, he poured God’s goodness into us.”

If you know the wonder of being a child of God through the new birth, this one verse is the essence of what happened in your life and mine. All of your sins have been poured into the very person of Christ at the cross two thousand years ago, because God knew all your sins back then, and then God poured His wrath out on His Son, for our sake. In exchange, God poured His Son’s righteousness into us. Why? Because God loves us and God wants us. He wants us to experience His glory for all of eternity. Don’t think for one moment you had anything to do with your salvation. God did what He did out of the overflow of His wonderful and holy nature. Now, ours is to live out the love of God that has been placed in us. Let goodness, love and kindness overflow today to a world that is much in need of it.

FREEDOM

Psalm 32:1 (TLB) What happiness for those whose guilt has been forgiven! What joys when sins are covered over! What relief for those who have confessed their sins and God has cleared their record.

There is a wonderful thing that takes place in our lives when we take complete ownership of our wrongdoing and sin that is within us. When we are honest before Holy God and are open with Him, He brings to our soul a wonder and joy that only He can bring when sin is confessed and forsaken. No matter the sin, the size of the sin, the God who created us loves to hear us confess and He longs to bring His amazing and overflowing joy into our heart. If your life is characterized by frustration due to sin, be open before the Lord, and watch God Himself bring His peace and joy to your heart. He longs to do so.

FRUSTRATED

Psalm 32:3 (TLB) There was a time when I wouldn’t admit what a sinner I was.* But my dishonesty made me miserable and filled my days with frustration.

Is your life full of frustration day in and day out? Often times there are spiritual reasons that our lives are frustrated. When we have known sin in our heart that we will not confess to the Lord, we will be frustrated. When we are one way in public and another way in private our lives will be frustrated. The God that created us didn’t create us to live in dishonesty. When we do so “frustration” will be that hallmark of our lives. The wisest thing to do in times of frustration is to go before the Lord, and allow Him to search our soul, and confess any known sin that we find in ourselves. He gives us his Word that He will be glad to cleanse us and to wash us from all unrighteousness. There is great joy that comes from coming clean before the God that created us. He yearns to fill our lives with peace.

WORK-AS FOR THE LORD

Ephesians 6:7, “…Work hard and with gladness all the time, as though working for Christ, doing the will of God with all your hearts.”

Your frame of reference in you “work” matters, and matters a great deal. If you are working simply for a paycheck, salary, then your work is going to be unfulfilling at best. But when we view our work, whatever it may be as work unto the Lord, there is a radical change in the way we will approach it. In reality, all the work that you do this day will be seen and noticed by the God of heaven, and He blesses all who treat their work, as a labor unto the Lord. While your job may be tiresome and even burdensome, there is wonderful benefits when we work as though we are working for Christ. View what you do today as for the Lord, and notice the energy and joy He infuses to your human body.
