Misunderstanding the works of the devil.
Psalms1:1-6
[1] Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
[2] But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
[3] And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
[4] The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
[5] Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
[6] For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
John 3:8-10 (KJV)
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
Ezekiel 18:4 (KJV)
4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
Psalm 145:17 KJV
17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.
Proverbs 3:6 KJV
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
1 John 3:6-9 (KJV)
6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
1 Corinthians 15:34 KJV
34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
Jesus came to show the world how to keep from sin. The doctrines of Christ are holiness and righteousness. This is because it saves souls from the consequences of sin and death, when done.
John 6:63 KJV
63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
John 14:15 KJV
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
John 5:19-20 (KJV)
19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
John 14:21 KJV
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
Jesus doesn't just come into anyone, one has to do things the way he commanded. The commands of Jesus are the same commands he learned from the Father. This is why the ways of righteousness are found in the old and new testaments.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
Jesus didn't change to the ways of his disciples. They had to learn his way of doing things. Just as everyone who worships God is to do.
This is why what Jesus said and did came from God. That's where he learned it. Now the ways of God don't result in sin, but the ways of the devil do. As they are ungodly and unrighteous. This is where most lose track of what's going on.
God doesn't leave heaven to change the outcome of things. That's why there are commands to follow. The ways of God always work out right. It has nothing to do with one's intentions, but the way they do things.
Proverbs 14:12 (KJV)
12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Many don't realize that they came from sinful ways. That didn't change when they came to Christ. One doesn't start to change, until they start seeking God's righteousness as commanded.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Scripture let's one know where to look and it reveals God's promise to those who are diligent.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
Matthew 5:6 (KJV)
6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
God doesn't put His righteousness within, He commands to seek it. If one is being properly instructed, this world be taught by those who have matured in the word of righteousness.
Hebrews 5:13-14 KJV
13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Not everyone has the truth within them, when it comes to the knowledge of God.
1 John 2:3-4 (KJV)
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
Psalm 111:10 KJV
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
Many may claim that God reveals things to them, but ask them how. The same goes for the works of the devil. If righteousness isn't being taught and practiced, sin is at work within. Just because it seems right, seek what the Bible says. Ask what scriptures we're followed to gather that information. As it would be known
John 14:15-31 (KJV)
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
There's only one way to receive a Comforter and Spirit of truth. It's only a portion, for each way learned. This is why those claiming to be filled with the Spirit, usually have no truth within them. This is because of all one needs to do. It's not easy to walk the straight and narrow, if the ways of the devil are still at work within. One cannot be filled with the Spirit of God, but still have the spirit of the devil at work at the same time. At church, most follow what is practiced there. Without ever seeking, the ways God commands. Believing that what they are doing is of God, because they trust it.
Scripture wouldn't say my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge, if all had it.
1 Corinthians 1:26 KJV
26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
Matthew 7:13-14 (KJV)
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
This is not to bring anyone down, but to show how the works of the devil, go unnoticed.
Many are babe's to the word of righteousness and unskilled in knowing the difference between the ways of God and the ways of the devil. If one is taught God puts it in you as a gift, many are going to believe it. Even when scripture says something else.
It's a challenge to find those who have matured in righteousness and share what they know. Even more rare is the acceptance that it's the truth.
Not learning the ways of God, will only keep one growing in the ways of unrighteousness, because of not knowing better. It would behoove all to do as God commands and seek the kingdom of heaven and God's righteousness. So that the works of the devil will be known and those ways avoided.
