“I Will Rescue You and You Will Give Me Glory”

In Psalm 50 we hear the LORD’s promise that he will rescue those who turn to and trust in him. And when that happens, he is glorified and we flesh out our purpose and calling…and live!

In this season after Pentecost, as we remember that we have died to sin and been raised to new life in our baptism and received the live-giving and love-inspiring Holy Spirit, we now live lives of purpose!

In the texts tomorrow we will see what that LORD desires in us and how the LORD extends his mercy widely and broadly to those we might least expect…and chastises those who we may also least expect.

Come and see and be encouraged to keep following Jesus no matter what…together!

Good morning!

Tomorrow we will gather to worship the Good Shepherd…the Lord who is my Shepherd and yours…OUR Shepherd!

The texts remind us of His care for each of us and all of us…and with that care we can be liberated from fear and anxiety knowing that He is with us and, no matter what we face, He will never leave us nor forsake us.

Come and see!

"I Will Lift Up the Cup of Salvation"

Cheers!

The Lord has conquered death and the grave and is risen!

In the texts tomorrow we will see that Jesus is our Bread of Life and the Cup of our Salvation…our Ransom.

No matter what we are facing or what we will face, we can know that He is walking this life with us…whether we recognize Him or not…and that He will be with us to the very end of the road…and beyond!

Come, let us worship Him together tomorrow and continue in the celebration of this Easter season!

“The Stone that the Builders Rejected has Now Become the Cornerstone”

On Maundy Thursday we feasted together and gladly heard the Lord’s mandate to His disciples to love one another as He had loved (and served!) them.

Then yesterday we solemnly heard how the tide and mood changed. Even in our Good Friday service, we felt the weirdness of it all. Do we laugh and greet one another while we remember the crucifixion of the Son of God? Do we avoid one another? That feels really awkward, too.

To be honest, if we experienced weirdness and awkwardness, perhaps we hit the mark. The crucifixion of Jesus, the Son of God, is weird and is awkward and, in fact, was a stumbling block according to Paul (I Corinthians 1:23).

Today is Holy Saturday…a quiet day. A day of rest from Holy Week activities as we remember that Jesus’s body was truly buried and dead. “Asleep” is the euphemism He used when describing Lazarus’ death…and so He was.

Tomorrow morning (bright and early for some at 6:30 am….and at 10 am for others), we will celebrate our Living Hope…our Risen Lord…Jesus our Messiah Who conquered the grave and on Whom our lives are built…the stone that was rejected has become our Cornerstone.

Let’s come together to celebrate the One who was and is and is to come - the only Hope of the World!

Tonight we will gather at 6 pm for a Mediterranean meal together and remember Jesus’ Last Supper with His disciples before His betrayal into the hands of the authorities.

But we won’t just remember that supper…we will also remember His mandate to His disciples: Love one another as He had loved them. It’s a mandate that we are still called to and to which we aspire.

Come join us tonight as we remember the One Who Is and His great love for the entire world.

Tomorrow is Palm Sunday.

It is the beginning of “Holy Week” for the Church around the globe…as we remember when Jesus came to Jerusalem for Passover to become the ultimate Passover lamb…the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the World!

He is the fulfillment of all of God’s promises and covenants and is the dotter of i’s and crosser of t’s...fulfilling the Law and the Prophets and truly becoming the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Come, let us cry with the crowds on that day, “Hosanna!”

Tomorrow is the Second Sunday in Lent and we begin with Psalm 121.

It’s a “Psalm (song) of Ascents”…many scholars viewing the 15 psalms (120-134) as songs sung along the way up to Jerusalem for one of the three annual pilgrimages celebrated in Judaism. If so, then 121 may have certainly been sung by Jesus and his disciples on their way up to Jerusalem for Passover.

“My help comes from the LORD…” is a line from 121 where we are reminded that no matter what we are facing or will face, we can trust the Lord. The other texts tomorrow continue with that theme…trusting the Lord and finding life, new life, eternal life, in him. From Abraham to Nicodemus…and to us today…this message is consistent: Trust the Lord for it’s from him that our eternal help comes.

Let’s come together and worship our holy and loving God tomorrow…the first day of a new week!

Tomorrow the texts take us to some very timely and familiar places…and remind us of the Lord’s desire for mercy, justice, and humility in His people…virtues we see in Him and offered to a weary world.

May we, as members of the Church - His Body and Bride, reflect these virtues to each other and to the world. Hope is needed…and His name is Jesus.

Let’s worship Him together tomorrow!

Yes, we are going to sing "Joy to the World” tomorrow. And, no, we are not necessarily happy.

Joy and happiness are two different things. A quick Google search provided this definition of terms:

"Happiness is a temporary, external emotion from good events (like getting a gift), while joy is a deeper, lasting internal state of well-being, purpose, and contentment that persists even during challenges. Think of happiness as fleeting reactions to circumstances (e.g., a good meal) and joy as a steady inner core of resilience, often linked to meaning, gratitude, or spiritual connection, that allows you to experience positive feelings even when things aren't perfect.”

That’s a pretty good description of the difference…and for us, more specifically than some vague “spiritual connection”, our joy is found in our trust in and connection to the Lord.

In the ebbs and flows of this difficult world, we find joy in knowing that the Lord loves us (and the world!) and that we can find joy in partnering with Him to bring the Good News of His love through our words and works...and bring joy to the world! His blessings are always meant to be shared.

Are you ready to worship the Lord and recenter on Him during these heavy times? We are. Come join us!

Merry 6th Day of Christmas!

On Sunday (the 11th Day of Christmas), the texts will point us to the gracious gifts that the LORD has blessed His people with…specifically, the gift of Christ…through Whom we can become children of God and inherit all that it means to be His. What an amazing gift!

Though it’s only Tuesday…let's look forward to Sunday! Let’s start the New Year together and lift our voices in unison…and give all glory and praise to Him alone!
