Twice each year the Social Justice Commission distributes grants to organizations who embody the Works of Mercy and Seven Themes of Catholic Social Teaching.
Funding for STM Social Justice Tithing Grants come from a percentage of parish collections and the proceeds of Fairtrade sales.
It’s only through your generosity that these grants are possible.
This September we will provide grants of up to $2500 to organizations who uplift the Life & Dignity of the Human Person.

Sam Lange is a great young man, a senior at Xavier and member of St. Ludmila’s in CR, and friend to many of our St. Thomas More youth! This is his NFCYM project as part of youth leadership at the National level. Please join us on 9/19 for this awesome time of worship!

The idea for an Iowa Eucharistic procession through the state’s four Catholic dioceses that sprouted from the mind of a teenager is becoming a reality. Processions have taken place in two locations so far and bishops have begun blessing four diocesan-shaped puzzle pieces representing the dioceses. The next stop covering the Davenport Diocese will be at St. Patrick Parish in Iowa City Sept. 19.

“I think it’s wonderful that someone like that wanted to take the initiative of doing this to glorify our Lord,” said Cheryl Schropp, St. Patrick’s events coordinator. “I think with God’s providence he will go far in life.”

Schropp confirmed that Bishop Dennis Walsh is scheduled to participate with others in the event, which starts at 9:30 a.m. and will involve a liturgy and walk with the Blessed Sacrament.
