Westminster Shorter Catechism:

Q. 94. What is Baptism?

Baptism is the sacrament /of solemn admission into the church on earth/ in which the washing with water in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, signifies and seals our being grafted into Christ, and having a share in the benefits of the covenant of grace, and our pledge to be the Lord’s.

This Sunday after service, during our potluck meal, we will be hosting a Baptism class where you can learn more about what it is, how it's done, and why. If you're interested in learning more or want to get baptized on Sunday, September 13, we encourage you to check out the class this Sunday!

Preaching is more than just an exchange of information. The Bible tells us that the preached Word is an act of God himself.

When the Bible is proclaimed faithfully with reasonable inferences derived straight from the text, the Spirit of God uses the words He originated to cause supernatural things to happen. Preaching, because of the Spirit, causes conviction, regeneration, obedience, worship and more.

Therefore, at New Springs Church we are careful about preparing well and preaching from the text so that by God's grace you hear from Him every week and not just the opinions human beings!

Salvation isn't about you trying to clean yourself up to be presentable to God. Salvation is God cleaning you up by the grace of Jesus in His sacrifice 2,000 years ago. All who have to do is believe and these promises are YOURS.

No matter who you are or what you have done.

We only have a few more weeks left in our "Everyday Faithfulness" series out of 1 Timothy, and we hope our journey through the book has been both challenging and encouraging for you.

Tomorrow's text is 1 Timothy 6:1-2. We pray the message increases your understanding of God's Word and challenges you in ways that shape you even more into the character of Jesus, who died for you and already loves you 🩵

In between classes, at lunch, on the ride home, or all three... take some time to talk to Jesus today "casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7)

Seriously pursuing godliness in your own life is an underrated part of being a Christian. It is far too important to approach casually.

However, your motivation for godliness should always be CHRIST.

It's His love, His grace, His mercy that grants you the forgiveness you need daily, and spurs you on to good works! Pursue godliness, but do it by looking at JESUS 🙌🏾
