The Superabundance of God’s Grace

Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more.
(Romans 5:20, NKJV)

Paul explains that the Mosaic law entered so sin might increase. The more the law is preached, the more sin increases, because the strength of sin is the law (1 Cor. 15:56). So when you respond to sin by preaching more law, you only fuel it. But where sin increased, grace increased even more. Sin cannot stop God’s grace, but God’s grace can stop sin. Which is greater—your sin or God’s grace? God’s grace is always greater! Paul is saying that where there is sin—“missing the mark”—there you will also find God’s grace: His unmerited favor in superabundant measure for your empowerment and victory. Just as Jesus overcame death and the grave, grace always overcomes sin. Contrary to traditional thinking, God’s grace does not abandon you when you miss the mark. Keep listening to teaching about Jesus and His finished work, and keep meditating on His love and what He accomplished on the cross, because grace is the only power that can stop sin in your life. When you fail, instead of feeling guilty and condemned, receive the superabounding grace of God that tells you that you are still righteous in Christ. Victory over sin comes only when people encounter the superabundance of God’s grace. It is His Grace that has made sinners righteous!

Take Time for Others

Jesus stopped in the road and called, "What do you want me to do for you?"
(Matthew 20:32 NLT)

In Matthew 20, when two blind beggars cried out for Jesus to have mercy on them, it says that “Jesus stopped and called them,” then He healed them. Jesus always took time for people. He was never too busy with His own agenda, with His own plans. He wasn’t so caught up in Himself that He was unwilling to stop and help any person in need. He could have easily said, “Listen, I have a schedule to keep.” But no, Jesus had compassion on people. He freely gave of His life. Make sure that you keep your heart of compassion open. We need to be willing to be interrupted and inconvenienced if it means we can help meet someone’s needs. Sometimes if we would just take the time to listen to them, we could help initiate a healing process in his or her life. If you can open your heart of compassion and be that person’s friend—without judging or condemning—and simply have an ear to listen, you have the opportunity to make a difference in that person’s life.

Justified By His Grace

But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
(Titus 3:4–7, NKJV)

The gospel the apostle Paul preached is not a man-pleasing gospel and was opposed by legalists everywhere he went. (Today’s legalists are still doing the same thing. I call them the “religious clique,” those who depend on their own efforts to achieve their own sense of righteousness.) Yet, Paul preached the truth of the gospel even if it meant being stoned by his opponents and being expelled from cities. Why? Because the gospel is the power of God to salvation! If you have been struggling with a particular challenge, keep feeding on the abundance of God’s grace through the hearing of the gospel. Don’t let anyone from the “religious clique,” add more conditions to your forgiveness. You are already forgiven of all your sins simply because you believe in Jesus! Nothing more, nothing less. This is the gospel that Paul preached. And when you get a hold of this truth and simply believe it, you will see the power of God come into your situation to give you the breakthrough you need!

There Is No Fear In Love

…God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. 17 And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we are like Christ here in this world. 18 Such love has no fear because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of judgment, and this shows that his love has not been perfected in us.
(1 John 4:16-19, NLT)

God is love, and as Scripture says, “There is no fear in love. Perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment.” Anyone who lives in fear of punishment, judgment, or condemnation has not yet been made complete in love. Fear becomes a tool of control when leaders emphasize rules, threats, and punishment. Messages built around “Thou shalt not,” warnings about hell, and vivid descriptions of condemnation can leave people feeling trapped by fear rather than drawn by grace. 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us that God hasn’t given us the spirit of fear… This means that God will never use fear in order to draw souls back to Him. His word tells us that we have been drawn to Him through loving-kindness. In many religious settings, people are taught to fear God when they are told to live under the Old Covenant Mosaic Law. This kind of teaching can produce anxiety and uncertainty rather than confidence in God’s love. It’s time for these leaders to get on God’s team instead of being on the team of the accuser.

Enough Is Enough

“I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey.”
(Exodus 3:7–8, NKJV)

The Israelites had lived in slavery for 430 years. For ten generations, they had been mistreated, abused, and oppressed even though they had done nothing wrong. Since the Egyptians had military power and weapons, freedom seemed impossible. But God said, “Enough is enough. You could not change it on your own, but I Am breaking the chains of oppression, delivering you, and leading you into the Promised Land.” You may be facing something passed down through your family—addiction, depression, poverty, guilt, shame, anxiety, or insecurity. God sees what you inherited and the pain of a difficult past. You have carried that burden long enough. God has delivered you from generational baggage and the unfair things in your family line. Now is your time to be free. You are a slave to nothing. Believe your release has already begun, and you will walk in freedom.

We Have a Friend in Jesus
There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
(Proverbs 18:24)

God is with you today because of His precious Son, Jesus. For God so loved the world, He gave His only Son, and His name is Immanuel (God Is With Us). God gave us Jesus. The presence of Jesus in your life is a free gift from God. There is no amount of good you can do to earn the presence of Jesus. There is no number of good works you can perform to merit His favor. His presence in your life is a free gift. Now, because you did nothing to deserve His presence in your life, there is nothing you can do that will cause His presence to leave you. Once you have received Jesus into your heart, He will never leave you nor forsake you (Heb. 13:5)! Jesus is right by your side to encourage you and restore you to wholeness when you fail. You may say, “But I don’t deserve it!” That’s right. That’s what makes it His unmerited favor, which is His Grace in your life. When you fail, Jesus is there to uphold you. Unlike some of your so-called “friends or family,” He does not just take off. You can count on Him. He is a faithful, dependable, and trustworthy friend. Even when you have failed Him, He is right there with you, ready to pick you up and restore you to wholeness with His unconditional Love. Amen!
