RAPTURE NOT IN THE BIBLE?

The word "Rapture" isn't in most English Bibles, but the idea comes directly from the Bible — specifically 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17.

In English, it says believers who are alive will be "caught up" together to meet the Lord in the air.

"Caught up" is a translation of the original Greek word harpazō (ἁρπάζω), which means to sn**ch away, seize, or take quickly by force — like being suddenly grabbed and carried off.

When the Bible was translated into Latin (the common language of the Western church for over 1,000 years), they used the word rapturo (or rapiemur — "we shall be caught up").

From that Latin word rapturo we get the English word "Rapture" — it simply means "being suddenly caught up or sn**ched away."

So when people talk about "the Rapture," they're referring to this moment when living believers are instantly taken up to meet Jesus.

Bible Language Timeline

Original New Testament — Written in Greek around 50 AD used the word "Harpazo" (1 Thessalonians was one of the earliest books).

Latin Translation — Around 400 AD, Jerome translated the Bible into Latin (called the Vulgate). This became the main Bible used in Europe for centuries. That's where rapturo came from.

English Translations — Much later (starting in the 1300s–1600s), it was translated into English. Translators often used "caught up" instead of directly using "rapture," but the meaning is exactly the same.

You know, after the Second Temple was destroyed in 70 AD and the Jews were scattered in 135 AD following the Bar Kokhba Revolt, the whole Christian world kind of went into "sleep mode."

For almost 1,800 years, most believers weren’t really expecting Jesus to come back anytime soon. So talking about the Rapture? Yeah, it just wasn’t a big thing.

But then God decided it was time to wake His people up. He raised up John Darby to stir things up again and get believers excited about being “caught up” — Jesus is coming soon!

And get this — around that same time, influential Jewish leaders started seriously working to re-establish a Jewish homeland.
It’s all part of God’s perfect plan. His timing is never early, never late — it’s spot on.

And today? We’re even closer to that amazing day… the Rapture.

Yes! WAKE UP!
