The Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia!

Read Fr. Nathan's "From the Rector's Desk" below to learn more about the season of Easter.

The Day of Resurrection is not just one day; Easter is a season of the church that lasts for 50 days! And so, you will notice that we have Sundays of Easter in fact we have seven Sundays in the season of Easter. The fortieth day of Easter is the feast of the Ascension when the church recognizes and celebrates the resurrected human flesh of Jesus which is now in the presence of God. The fiftieth day is Pentecost, which is May 24th this year, the fourth Sunday in the month of May.

One change you will notice is that during the 50 days of Easter, we do not regularly offer a public confession of sin, not because people don’t sin during Easter, on this side of things, we remain sinners and at the same time Christ has made us saints, but here we follow the practice of the ancient church, which took a break from confession during the Great 50 days of Easter. As we have offered during the season of Lent in the past, private confession is available by appointment should you desire it.

During the season of Easter, we practice what the work of Christ on the cross has accomplished for us and for our salvation and we begin practicing that new relationship that has been given to us in Christ. It is Christ who makes us worthy and it is Christ, who invites us to his heavenly table as sons and daughters to partake of his most precious Body and Blood. Thanks be to God! Amen.

Almighty God, we pray you graciously behold this your family, for whom our Lord Jesus Christ was willing to be betrayed, and given into the hands of sinners, and to suffer death upon the cross; who now lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

In the Beginning….
Ever wonder where to start reading the Bible? How do you just jump in and make any sense of the whole? On Wednesday, March 25, the Feast of the Annunciation, at 9:30am in Parish Hall, the Rector’s Bible Study will begin reading the Gospel of John. We will enter the riches that is John and begin to unpeel the onion of the good news and how John fits into it all. John is the book that best rewards the time put into it, the deeper you go, the more meaning is found. Come and See!

Ecumenical Lenten Series 2026 - The Revelations of Divine Love
This Lent, the churches of Cooperstown will be reading the spiritual classic The Revelations of Divine Love by Julian of Norwich and we will be leading a series of discussions based on this book, which is translated by Father John-Julian, OJN in the Paraclete Essentials Series. Julian is the first woman writer in English, a woman who remains in the traditions of the church, while engaging the tradition to reimagine Christ as Mother, and imagines God's love in new ways that directly speaks to believers today and to the current climate of hate in the world.
There are 25 copies available for $15 each through the Presbyterian Parish House and Betty Baxter, cash or check, made out to Christ Church.
We will meet for five Wednesdays in Lent, after Ash Wednesday (February 18) and before Holy Week (March 29). Each meeting will begin at 5:30pm with a simple soup/salad dinner followed by 45-60 minutes of discussion led by the local clergy and based on the weekly reading, ending at 7pm. Each week, questions will be handed out at the previous session for next week’s discussion, which will be based on the chapters for that week.
