Temple Beth Emet Religious School - Merkaz Limud & Jewish Teen Leadership

Temple Beth Emet Religious School - Merkaz Limud & Jewish Teen Leadership Kindergarten - 12th Grade, Sunday School, Bar Bat Mitzvah, Jewish Community, Reform, Family Programs, Judaism is a culture that is meant to be lived.

Our children and teens are the future of the Jewish people and the Merkaz Limud - Learning Center, and the Jewish Teen Leadership (JTL) programs exist to provide all of our students the opportunities to practice living that culture. The foundation of Merkaz Limud and JTL is a community that lives and loves Judaism. Our community rests upon the principles of warmth, security, challenge, curiosity, student empowerment, mutual responsibility, community participation, joy, enthusiasm and support. Our community is connected to the larger synagogue, Jewish people and Jewish history. We live out our history, traditions, culture, langauge, texts and a relationship with God, and we dedicate ourselves to the Jewish mission of tikkun olam, the repair of our world.

A Wonderful Start to a New Year of Jewish Learning!

It was wonderful welcoming our families to Miss Sylvia’s class orientation and sharing all the meaningful experiences our children will participate in throughout the year.

Miss Sylvia spoke with families about how she brings Jewish traditions, prayer, music, movement, and hands-on learning together. Throughout the year, students learn about Shabbat, Havdalah, Jewish holidays, prayers and blessings, Hebrew and Jewish songs, and even Israeli dancing! 🇮🇱🎶

Each grade also has special experiences designed just for them. Our Pre-K and Kindergarten students participate in a Creation Program/Shabbat experience, introducing them to the story of Creation while connecting their learning to the beauty and traditions of Shabbat. 🌎🌳🕯️

Our 1st graders participate in a Hebrew Naming Ceremony, our 2nd graders celebrate Havdalah together, and students in 3rd through 7th grade have opportunities to participate in and help lead Shabbat services in May of next year. Our 6th and 7th graders also explore Jewish values and our connection to the earth through a special hydroponics program. 🌱

These experiences are about so much more than learning prayers or songs. They are about helping our children understand who they are, where our traditions come from, and what it means to be part of the Jewish community. ❤️

Thank you to all of our families who joined us for orientation. We are looking forward to a beautiful year of learning, singing, celebrating, growing, and creating Jewish memories together! ✡️💙

🍎🍯 Learning About the High Holy Days! 🍯🍎

Our 1st and 2nd graders had a wonderful time learning about Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur with Miss Stacy and Morah Yael!

Through stories, conversations, and activities, the children explored the meaning and traditions of these very special Jewish holidays. It was wonderful to see them working together, asking questions, sharing their ideas, and beginning to understand how Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur give us a time to reflect, make good choices, say we are sorry, and think about how we can make the new year even better. ❤️

We love watching our students build their Jewish identity through meaningful, joyful experiences with their friends and teachers.

🍎🍯 6th and 7th Grade Learning All About Rosh Hashanah! 🍯🍎

What a wonderful day of learning with our students. Today, we learned all about Rosh Hashanah with Miss Gayle, exploring the traditions, symbols, and special foods connected to the Jewish New Year.

The students had the opportunity to taste different varieties of apples, compare their flavors and textures, and of course enjoy the beautiful tradition of apples dipped in honey for a sweet New Year! 🍎🍯

It was wonderful to see our students learning through conversation, tasting, sharing, and experiencing these traditions together.

May the year ahead be filled with sweetness, learning, friendship, and many meaningful Jewish experiences.

Shanah Tovah U’Metukah! 🍎🍯🍏
Wishing everyone a happy and sweet New Year! ❤️

6th & 7th Grade – Mifgash with Nesher 🇮🇱

Our 6th and 7th graders had their final mifgash of the year with our friends in Nesher, Israel.

Through writing and drawing, the students shared their thoughts about Israel, their understanding, and their wishes for their Nesher friends. It was a meaningful moment of connection, reflection, and friendship across the distance.

This partnership has been such a special part of our year, helping our students feel connected to Israel in a real and personal way.

A special thank you to Miss Gayle and Miss Valerie for guiding and supporting our students through this beautiful experience. 💙

3rd & 4th Grade – Lag B’Omer Archery 🏹

Our 3rd and 4th graders had such a meaningful and fun experience celebrating Lag B’Omer through archery.

They learned how to safely use the bow and arrow while connecting to the traditions of the holiday. The children listened carefully, supported one another, and were so excited to practice their skills!

A special thank you to Miss Liat for guiding them through this experience and helping bring the meaning of Lag B’Omer to life in such a hands-on way.

So much focus, teamwork, and joy all in one activity! 💙
