This Sunday is a celebration of what Jesus does in a life and what He builds through His Church.

After 19 weeks in Ephesians, we’re turning the final page of a letter that has reminded us who we are in Christ and what it looks like to live that out together.

And on Baptism Sunday, we get to see that truth right in front of us. Individual lives changed by Jesus. A church family surrounding them, celebrating with them, and being reminded of the grace that changed us too.

There’s a lot to celebrate, and we’d love to spend the morning with you!

The enemy wants you to question who you are. God’s Word reminds you of what is already true.

In Christ, your identity has already been settled. You are forgiven. You are made righteous. You are a child of God. And when accusations, shame, fear, and doubt come, you don’t have to figure out who you are in that moment. You can stand on what God has already said.

That’s why we need to know the Word of God. We can’t fight lies with truth we don’t know.

Remember whose you are.
Know what God says.
And when the enemy attacks, wage war with the Word of God.

A life changed by Jesus. A story of grace. A public declaration that the old is gone and the new has come.

Baptism is more than a moment in the water. It’s an outward picture of what Jesus has already done within, a step of obedience that says, “My life belongs to Him.” As Romans 6:4 reminds us, “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”

And when we get to witness it together, we’re reminded all over again of the goodness of God and the power of the Gospel to change a life.

It’s not if. It’s when.

The battle will come. And Ephesians 6 reminds us that we don’t have to enter it unprepared.

“Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.” -Ephesians 6:13

Don’t wait until you’re confused to decide what’s true. Know the Word.

Don’t wait until you’re tempted to decide how you’ll live. Guard your character.

Don’t wait until you’re in the battle to put on your armor. Prepare now so you can stand firm then.

The goal isn’t a life without battles. It’s to come through them, by the strength of God, still standing.

We prepare for a lot of things in life. So what about the battles we don’t always see coming?

Scripture doesn’t tell us to pretend the battle isn’t there. It tells us to stand firm.

Tomorrow, we’re back in Ephesians 6, looking at the armor God has given us to resist the enemy and still be standing when the battle is over. We’ll start with truth and righteousness and why both matter in how we live, what we believe, and how we stand our ground.

So don’t let tomorrow be just another Sunday. Come ready to worship, ready to open God’s Word, and ready to ask where you may need to stand a little firmer.

The battle is real. The armor is available. The question is whether we’re actually putting it on.

We have an enemy. We are in a spiritual battle. But Jesus has already won the victory.

We don’t fight from our own strength, and we don’t overcome by simply trying harder. We surrender to Jesus, walk in obedience, and live from the victory He has already secured.

“Victory against the enemy goes through the cross, not around it.”

So wake up to the battle, but even more, wake up to the victory. Don’t give an inch to the enemy in your life, your family, or His Church.

Sunday night, we gathered to turn our attention back to Jesus.

We sang. We prayed. We laid down distractions and fixed our hearts again on the One who is worthy of it all.

In every song, every prayer, every moment, our hope was simply to make much of Him.

May that posture go far beyond one night together. In our worship, our work, our relationships, our everyday lives—may Jesus remain at the center.

We’ve covered a lot of ground in Ephesians.

Who we are because of Jesus. How His grace changes us. What it looks like to walk worthy, love well, live differently, and let the gospel shape the places closest to us.

And now, we’re coming to the final stretch. This Sunday, we begin Volume 5: Stand Firm.

Paul’s final words to the church in Ephesus carry some weight. Because there’s a reason living faithfully to Jesus can feel like a fight. There’s more happening than what we can see, and before Paul closes this letter, he wants the church to understand what’s really at stake.

But this isn’t a message of fear. It’s a call to know where our strength comes from, remember who has already won, and be ready to stand.

“A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” -Ephesians 6:10

Fall FunFest is coming September 11–12, and we have an opportunity to show up and love our city well💛

Each year, hundreds of people fill downtown Cookeville, and The River gets to be right in the middle of it, creating a fun, welcoming space for families through our Kids Zone.

Every game played, bounce house monitored, and conversation shared is an opportunity to serve someone, make a connection, and reflect the love of Jesus right here in our city.

There are so many ways to be part of it, and we’d love to see our church family show up in a big way for Cookeville!
