GREAT NEWS! For all my facebook friends that enjoy Pickleball, the groundbreaking ceremony for the outdoor 8 dedicated pickleball courts at Cane Creek will be held tomorrow, Monday morning, the 29th at 9:30 a.m.

These courts will well serve our community members from ages 9 to 90, playing pickleball for 1) Wellness/Fitness, 2) Socialization, and 3) Friendly competition. The courts will also be available for league, tournament, and fundraising pickleball events.

We invite all pickleball players, and interested parties, to join us at the field across from the gymnasium. Check here for any updates.

Spirea, one of my favorite shrubs! In front of the porch of the farmhouse, where I grew up, you will see the shrub from which I got starts for what we now have here. I was lucky to get the starts before the new highway took out the house and all the out buildings in the 80's. The 'mother' plant at the farm dates back to the 1930's.

Mining Your Memories - Beginning on October 5, this class will meet on Thursdays at 1pm in the Freeman Building Rm B213 for five weeks. Jennie Ivey will be our leader, motivator, encourager, and teacher. This class is an off-shoot of a class that met for many years at FUMC, but prior participation is not required. Using one-word prompts, participants will write and share memories from their past. Class is limited to 12 participants. This class is $25. Register at: cookevillefumc.org/all

Intermediate iPhones with Bob Rice will meet on Tuesdays & Thursdays from October 17-October 31 at 10am in the Freeman Building Rm B210. It's important that you have an iPhone, an Apple account, and an email address with passwords. Our class topics will include a refresher of basics, tips and tricks, settings, Emails & Apps, and avoiding scams. The class is limited to 12 participants.
