Struggling to be a “Christian“?

Living your life trying to be a “good” Christian leaves many exhausted, frustrated, and many times disappointed in themselves.

Stop trying to be good.

Love the Lord God with all your heart.
Love others as you would want to be loved.
In this; all the law, all the commandments and all of scripture is fulfilled.

Many Christians are frustrated and exhausted because of the amount of effort that is needed when they want to follow Jesus , but find themselves caught between two Kingdoms.
Many desire to follow Jesus and seek to go to Heaven. At the same time continuing to chase the desires of this world.
This leaves us pulled and torn as the Spirit of God beckons us and the wants of the desires of this world command us. This internal battle wages until exhaustion forces us to surrender.
Unfortunately, few surrender to Jesus.
For when exhaustion sets in, it is the desire for the easy way that will win the day. The wide road and easy path that leads to destruction.

Many are frustrated and disheartened because they were sold any “easy” path to the Kingdom of God.
“Just say this prayer.” “Just be baptized.” “Just do these rituals.” “Just believe.”
To many who asked to follow Christ, Jesus said; “Count the cost”.
Following Jesus will cost you everything of this life, this world and its desires.
For to truly be a disciple, a follower of Jesus, you must deny your life and your desires and commit to loving God and the pursuit of His desires.

This is the narrow gate and hard road that few “believers” will find.
The world will hate you.
You will be persecuted. Maybe killed.
So it was with Jesus and ALL the prophets that came before him.

As Paul said; we endure this momentary affliction (life) as we joyfully wait for the eternal glory that is to come! 🤗 Hallelujah!!

If I may leave you with this:
Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. -Rom 12: 9-21

May the peace, and grace, and strength of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be upon you!

Love.
And you will be a “good” Disciple of Christ.

If you knew that you were condemned to Hell; would you still love, honor, and serve God with all of your heart?
Not because of what you would get; but because He is God, Father, and Creator - and He deserves it.

All sins are an addiction to selfish desires.

If we are to be the bride of Christ; then our churches are full of too many wedding planners and no marriage counselors.

Free will.

There are few things in life that are more terrifying than the thought that in the end, I will have to take responsibility for the choices and decisions I’ve made.
There will be no one to blame.
I will stand alone to give an account.

I try to comfort myself with lies; “God made me this way.” “The devil made me do it.” “God’s sovereignty.” “Everyone sins.” “No one is perfect.” “God will forgive me.” “God knows my heart.”
Yet the comfort never lasts. The guilt and shame of my choices and decisions is an ever growing weight.

There is only one way out - Repent.
Stop sinning. Accept responsibility . Turn away from your desires and seek God; to love Him with all your heart and you will be forgiven. The blood of Jesus will wash away your guilt and you can be restored, to be one with the Father. Now and for all eternity.

The choice, and the consequences, are yours.
