The holidays are one of my favorite times of the year. From Thanksgiving to New Year's it seems most people for a moment are reminded of the things that truly matter; our faith, our family & friends, our lives. The holidays also take a certain level of preparedness. Being prepared to cook a full Thanksgiving meal takes work, and being prepared. In the same way spiritually we are always being prepared...prepared for the day our Savior will return to take us home. Jesus prepared for 30 years for what he would accomplish in only 3. What he accomplished in those 3 rippled into the past and sent a wave into all eternity. Being prepared also means waiting, something I, myself have trouble with. It isn't the preparing that most of us have an issue with, but the waiting that it takes in being prepared. Waiting causes us to fidget, to get antsy and if we aren't careful will cause us to move prior to our/'its' readiness. Waiting can also produce in us an endurance if we allow. An endurance of faith and testing, an endurance to circumstance, an endurance and reliance on God that only the waiting room can produce. Don't be discouraged in the waiting, be encouraged that you are being prepared for what God has prepared for you! When a woman gives birth the waiting room is the step right before delivery, the waiting room isn't a hindrance but a step to the next level. The delivery room has to be sterile and clean, it has a certain order of tools that must be prepared in advance. The waiting room is where a woman goes from being pregnant to the next room where she is holding what she carried for 9 months. There is purpose in the waiting room. Hold on to that prayer, hold on to that vision, hold on to that dream, the delivery room is up next!
Scripture Reference:
1 Corinthians 16:13 "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong."
Psalm 90:12 "Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom."
2 Timothy 3:16-17 "All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be throughly equipped for every good work."
Prayer: Lord, thank you for always being with us. Through the good, the bad, the ugly, you are with us in it all. We thank you for the waiting room. Even though at times it hurts and is hard, Lord we trust you because we know you love us and want what is best for us! Help us to slow down this week and be reminded as we prepare our homes and meals that YOU preparing us all is what matters most. Thank you for continued strength and endurance. Comfort those who are broken, strengthen those who are weary and restore faith in those who have doubted. Remind your daughters today that there is hope and peace in the preparing. There is hope and peace in the waiting. In Jesus name, Amen!
