Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory Forever!

This Thursday September 3 we will be honoring Don, one of our founders, with a Liturgy at 3 PM. Don and his wife Jean were one of the few who initially contacted Father Conan and started the effort to bring the Byzantine Rite Liturgy to the Myrtle Beach Area. His efforts and those who were here at the beginning worked very hard to establish the Blessed Basil Hopko Mission to Celebrate the Customs and Traditions of our Byzantine Rite Heritage.

Later that evening there will be Visitation available at Lee's Funeral Home 6 to 8 PM.

Charleston Area Outreach Interest!

Are you a Byzantine/Eastern Rite Catholic that has relocated to the
Charleston, SC area and miss attending the Divine Liturgy and other
services? The Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Passaic is exploring the
possibility of establishing an Outreach Community in the Charleston area. Currently the closest Mission is in the Myrtle Beach area. I'm working with one of the priests in Passaic to help gauge interest. If there is sufficient interest, the plan would be to have a Liturgy somewhere in the Charleston area in the next few months. If you are interested, please send me an e-mail at [email protected].

Please volunteer if you can. This would be of great help in establishing the Byzantine and other Eastern Rite Catholics in the state of South Carolina. Thank you

A reminder Father will celebrate the Divine Liturgy at the Chapel this coming Sunday, August 23th, at 10 AM. All are welcome to attend and stay for light refreshments afterwards. Chapel Doors will open at 930. Please park in the paved area.

This will be the final scheduled summer Sunday Divine Liturgy at 10AM. Please check this page for any updates. Hopefully, I will be able to Post schedule information Wednesday Afternoon.
Father Ihor is scheduled to discuss our status with the Bishop In September.

It is important to note that the Eparchy of Passaic is interested in establishing a mission in the Charleston SC area. This could be very important to the future of our Mission. One Priest could serve both Parishes, and since we have a house and a Chapel, initially it is possible that the Priest would be assigned to Blessed Basil Hopko. He could then be assigned the task of cultivating the growth of a mission in the Charleston Area. It is important for a mission to have a sense of stability with a regularly Saturday/Sunday Liturgy and a Priest that is relatively close to admininster to the needs of the parishioners. I am posting separately the notice published in the last several issues of the Eastern Catholic Life. I am requesting any Byzantine or Eastern Rite Catholics in the Charleston Area to support this effort to establish the Charleston Area Mission.

This will be the final scheduled summer Sunday Divine Liturgy. Unfortunately we have no follow on schedule for the Liturgy at this time. Father Ihor, in New York City, the administrator for our mission, would fly round trip on the same day on Spirit Airlines to Celebrate the Divine Liturgy at a reasonable cost. Since Spirit no longer exists, no other independant airlines has as many non stop routes almost everyday of the week at their low cost from New York area airports.

Please Check this page weekly for any updates on our Liturgical schedule. I will Post a status every Monday Afternoon on this page
