๐ข COMMUNITY PSA | OFFICIAL SALVATION ARMY DONATIONS & FUNDRAISING
The Salvation Army of Montgomery County is incredibly grateful for the generosity of our community and for the many individuals, volunteers, churches, businesses, and organizations who continually look for ways to support our mission and the people we serve.
It has recently come to our attention that The Salvation Army name and official Red Shield logo have been used on flyers and other media materials soliciting donations that were not created, approved, or authorized by The Salvation Army of Montgomery County.
We want to take this opportunity to provide an important clarification, not to discourage anyone from supporting our programs, but to protect our donors, volunteers, community partners, and the integrity of the Red Shield.
The Salvation Army name, Red Shield logo, and official branding may not be used by individuals, volunteers, businesses, churches, organizations, or other third parties to independently solicit donations of any kind without prior authorization from The Salvation Army.
This applies to requests for money, food, meals, supplies, gift cards, sponsorships, goods, services, or any other donations.
Likewise, individuals or organizations should not represent themselves as collecting donations โfor,โ โon behalf of,โ or as a fundraiser of The Salvation Army unless the effort has been officially approved.
We absolutely welcome community generosity!
Individuals, businesses, churches, and organizations are welcome to independently raise funds, purchase items, prepare meals, or organize collections that they later choose to donate to The Salvation Army. However, those efforts should be conducted under their own individual, business, church, or organization name and should not use The Salvation Army logo or branding or imply that the solicitation is an official Salvation Army fundraiser.
Official Salvation Army fundraising and donation solicitations will come directly through authorized Salvation Army channels, including our official Salvation Army of Montgomery County page and staff.
If you see our Red Shield on a flyer, social media post, fundraising request, or other solicitation and are unsure whether it is authorized, please contact The Salvation Army of Montgomery County directly before making a donation.
These policies are in place to ensure accountability and transparency, protect the generosity of our donors, and safeguard the trust our community has placed in The Salvation Army and the Red Shield for generations.
Most importantly, we do not want this clarification to discourage anyone from serving! We LOVE when members of our community see a need and want to help. If you have an idea for a donation drive, meal, fundraiser, sponsorship, or service project benefiting those we serve, please reach out to us. We would be happy to work with you to find the appropriate way to make it happen.
Thank you, Montgomery County, for your continued generosity, partnership, and trust as together we continue Doing the Most Goodยฎ. โค๏ธ
