College Park Church of Christ

College Park Church of Christ The College Park Church of Christ’s mission statement is two-fold; our desire is to “seek and to save

We are a group of people drawn together by a common faith in Jesus Christ for worship and service. We have no denominational affiliation; yet we recognize a particular fellowship “in Christ” with other congregations of the body of Christ. We wear no name but that of Christ and therefore we are simply referred to as Christians, just like the early Christians of the first century (Acts 11:26). We be

lieve in the authority of the New Testament for everything that we do as a congregation, and as individuals. We do our best to model our worship, ministry, belief system and moral conduct after the example and teaching of Jesus and His apostles (2 Tim 3:16-17). We are very active in evangelistic and ministry work, both in our local community and across the world. We are passionate about sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and witnessing the powerful impact the message of Christ can have on hearts that accept Him. We are also passionate about ministering to others, and we look for any opportunity to minister to our community or individuals who have a need. All of this we do not for our own glory, but in an attempt to shine the light of Jesus to the world (Matt 5:16).

Worship is easy when the sun is shining, the bills are paid, and everyone is healthy. But what happens when the bottom falls out? ⛈️

Swipe through these slides to see the reality of biblical faith. ➡️

True worship often requires a sacrifice. Sometimes, that sacrifice is our demand for answers. Sometimes, it is our comfort. Job, Abraham, the Hebrew rebels, Mary, and Paul all faced terrifying, heartbreaking, or uncertain circumstances. Yet, they all chose to bow their hearts to God anyway.

As the final slide reminds us: We don't have to understand everything or feel happy with our circumstances to worship. We worship Him simply because of who He is.

"Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name." — Hebrews 13:15 (NKJV)

We were never meant to walk this faith journey alone! 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️

The truth about sharpening iron is that it requires a little bit of friction. A true godly friend doesn't just tell you what you want to hear; they challenge you, encourage you, and hold you accountable to the standard of Christ. When we surround ourselves with people who are passionately pursuing God, it naturally pushes us to do the same.

Take a moment today to thank the friends in your life who sharpen your faith and make you better! ⚔️✨

"As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend." — Proverbs 27:17 (NKJV)

Deep bonds are forged when we serve the Lord together! 🤝✨

As Trevor Teel reminds us in this clip, the relationships we build "in the trenches" of Christian service are incredibly special. Working, serving, and risking together creates a deep, affectionate love that is galvanizing. If you want to help nurture someone in their faith today, take a moment to simply let them know how much you care about them.

"greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy," — 2 Timothy 1:4 (NKJV)

What does it mean to look like a child of God? 🕊️

According to Jesus, one of the greatest markers of our identity in Christ is our ability to bring peace into the spaces we enter. It isn't always easy to be the one who diffuses tension, offers forgiveness, or builds a bridge, but it is exactly what we are called to do.

Let this be a gentle reminder to lead with grace today.

"Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God." — Matthew 5:9 (NKJV)

We are so incredibly blessed by the fellowship and relationships here at our congregation, and with other Christians! 🙏✨

Recently, we’ve had some wonderful opportunities to spend time together as a church family. Swipe through the photos to see what we’ve been up to:

🏆 Trivia Night: A huge congratulations to Team Flemith for taking home the big win at our trivia competition! It was a fantastic evening of friendly rivalry and lots of laughs.

🍿 Movie Night: Adults and kids alike had a great time gathering together to watch David. There is nothing quite like sharing an inspiring story of faith across all generations!

🛣️ Area-Wide Meeting: Several members of our congregation traveled to Garland, TX, for the Church of Christ area-wide meeting hosted by theLaPrada Drive Church Of Christ. What a beautiful time of worship, encouragement, and connection with our extended brothers and sisters in Christ!

We are so grateful for a congregation that loves to spend time together, and a family of God that extends far outside our group. We can't wait for the next opportunity to connect!

"Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!" — Psalm 133:1 (NKJV)

Last month's Men's Fellowship was one for the books! We turned up the heat with an epic, Iron Chef-style cookoff that put some serious culinary skills to the ultimate test.

The Challenge:

The Gear: 3 brave competitors stepped up to the Blackstone griddles.

The Ingredients: Each chef was given a different protein (beef, pork, or chicken) and access to a pantry of common ingredients.

The Twist: A mandatory sabotage ingredient that they had to seamlessly incorporate into their final dish! 😳 Sauerkraut was added to the chicken dish, dragon fruit to the beef, and flaming hot cheetos to the pork!

The Verdict:
We had a panel of 3 official judges tasting the creations, plus a crowd-favorite vote from all the guys in attendance. Despite the sabotage, the food was incredibly creative and absolutely delicious, and the laughs and fellowship were unbeatable.

The Champion:
A massive congratulations to our reigning culinary champion, Chef Black, for overcoming the sabotage and taking home the win! 🏆🥩

Thank you to everyone who came out, cooked, judged, and ate. We always have a great time when we get together, and we can't wait for the next one!

What motivates a Christian?

Whether you are a parent, an elder, or a boss at work, one of the most effective ways to inspire the people you have influence over is to express genuine appreciation for them.

As Trevor Teel points out in our latest study on 2 Timothy, the ultimate way to do this is to let people know that you are thanking God for them. Affirming someone's identity in Christ and recognizing God's work in their life places a wonderful responsibility on them to keep fanning that flame! 🔥
