Over the last few months, I've been wrestling within my spirit concerning a calling that has consumed my thoughts as well as my sleep. In fact, it was a Sunday morning at 2:30am that the Lord spoke to me. But before I share that night le
t me start back in the beginning. For several months, I was leading a Small Group Study on Sunday evenings. We had such a wonderful time that after we finished the study, and we took some time off for the holidays, we jumped right back into another study. It was wonderful to see our group grow and just love each other. After I rolled that statement around in my brain, I have to admit that I thought, are most people tired of “church”? Why is “church” more concerned with style than substance and marketing than making disciples? Then someone else said why don’t “WE” start our own church? Honestly the thought scared me, yet intrigued me all at the same time. I tried to just brush it off but my spirit would not let it go. Then I came across the verse from 2 Samuel. And I asked the Lord in prayer, “Is this what you’re calling me to do”? Thus, the 2:30am insomnia. That night, I got out of bed and went to the living room. This was the only thought I had, “Are you calling me to start a church Lord”? I prayed for quite a while, wrestling with the thought, but when I finally just gave it to the Lord and said “if it’s your will Lord, I will do it”. I have to tell you I went back to bed and slept like a rock. I had a wonderful peace about the decision. The following morning Amy and I went to church and after church I told her what the Lord had said to me and so many things went into motion to encourage the decision and the reason for writing this letter. I need you more than you could know. I need you more than you can imagine. I need you, yes, you for the most important part of this journey, the start. What I need more than anything is your PRAYERS!!! Would you just consider praying for us as we begin this ministry? This is our greatest need as we start. Many things are already in place. A place to worship. A core group. Music leader. But more than anything a deep desire to serve the Lord. Am I crazy? You bet. But I could not battle the call from the Lord any longer and decided to submit to His will. So please lift us up in prayer daily. There is a page started just for this reason.
