Re: Bible Covenant Church of Connersville, IN CLOSING: In its by-gone and peak years, the church ministered to many, had a full church and ACE School. For numerous years though, it has suffered loss and no gains.
There are only a 1/2 dozen of us there. I’ve been supplying the pulpit for just over 3 years. We have been blessed to be part of this little corner of God’s kingdom. It was probably time to close even prior to our arrival, but we kept the doors open for the “whosoever will”.
It’s important to note that there are no divisions, personalities, church bosses or people issues at all- NONE. Not everyone can say that. Also, our church is part of the I. C. H. A. (International Conservative Holiness Association) based out of Greenfield, Indiana. No one from the ICHA has pressed us, hinted at nor encouraged us to close. This has all been the leading of the Lord.
The issues are basic:
Our size and finances. There’s only 6 of us. My wife and I live 50 miles away in Greenfield. Another couple lives 20 miles away. They pick-up Captain Hooks (if you know, you know!!) at the nursing home. Then there’s the Treasurer, only member, widowed and engaged Sister. She and her intended have put off their nuptials primarilybecause of the church situation.
The property is at the end of a Dead End street with no traffic.
We only meet on Sunday morning and there is no parsonage. Unfortunately , it was sold off years ago.
A major part of the impetus is needed building repairs and updating that we cannot financially handle.
We prayed over last three years for God’s guidance; He gave it, so here are.
I will continue some type of ministry on the church FB but under a new name and focus. There are no specific plans just yet.
Bro Rollin Mitchell is handling the closer and sale of the property.
It was a bit of a sock in the gut this morning when we arrived at church to see a realtor’s sign planted right smack dab in front of the church sigh. (Oh well. Bro Mitchell had nothing to do with that though.)
I’m not real interested in replying and repeating to tons of folk about the closure, hence this post.
According to the Jewish calendar, June 1 is Pentecost Sunday, additionally it’s the last Sunday before ICHA Camp Meeting (6/3-8), y’all come and join us.
According to the Julian calendar, Pentecost is Sunday 6/8. Either way, whether closing the Connersville church or enjoying camp meeting, we’ll be
celebrating Pentecost.
BTW- if you claim to be Holiness, but don’t understand the connection between our doctrine of Entire Sanctification and Pentecost, then you need to listen to my message from today. I’m preaching about Holiness, the Kingdom and Pentecost over our last three services leading to Pentecost on 6/1.
Blessings.
