Finish Your Assignment
Deuteronomy 34:1–12

“Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo… and there the LORD showed him the whole land.” — Deuteronomy 34:1 (NIV)

There is something bittersweet about reaching the end of a journey.

In Deuteronomy 34, Moses stands on Mount Nebo and looks across the Promised Land. After forty years of leading the Israelites through the wilderness, he can finally see the destination.

But Moses will not enter it.

That can be difficult to understand.

Moses had sacrificed.
Moses had obeyed.
Moses had endured complaints, rebellion, disappointment, and countless challenges.

And yet, God allowed Moses to see the promise without personally stepping into it.

From a human perspective, that might feel like an unfinished story.

But from God's perspective, Moses' assignment was complete.

🔊 Sometimes Finishing Doesn't Look Like We Expected

We often measure success by whether we get to see the final result.

We think:

"If I started it, I should be the one to finish it."

"If I worked for it, I should get to enjoy it."

"If God gave me the vision, I should get to see it completely fulfilled."

But Moses teaches us something different.

Our responsibility is obedience. God's responsibility is the outcome.

Moses' job was to lead Israel as far as God instructed him to lead them. Joshua would carry the people into the Promised Land.

Moses didn't fail because someone else finished the journey.

He succeeded because he faithfully completed the assignment God gave him.

That is an important distinction.

Sometimes we become discouraged because we don't see the fruit of our labor.

We pray for our children but don't immediately see the answer.

We invest in someone's life but don't get to witness their transformation.

We work hard on something and someone else receives the recognition.

We plant seeds whose harvest may come long after we are gone.

But Scripture reminds us that our faithfulness is not wasted simply because we don't see the final result.

❤️ God Still Had a Plan

Moses' story didn't end with the Promised Land.

God had already prepared Joshua.

The mission would continue.

The leadership would continue.

The promise would continue.

And Moses' legacy would continue.

Verse 10 says:

“Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face.”

Moses may not have entered the land, but he left behind a legacy of faithfulness that generations would remember.

Your impact may be greater than what you are able to see.

You may be planting something today that someone else will harvest tomorrow.

You may be encouraging someone who will one day encourage thousands.

You may be teaching lessons that will continue long after you are gone.

You may never know the full impact of your obedience.

That's okay.

God knows.

The world says:

“You have to see the results to know your work mattered.”

God says:

“Be faithful with what I gave you.”

The world says:

“Success means finishing everything yourself.”

God says:

“Your assignment may be one part of a much bigger story.”

The world says:

“If you can't see the outcome, why keep going?”

Faith says:

“Because God is faithful, even when I cannot see the outcome.”

🙏 Saturday Reflection

Is there something in your life that you have been frustrated about because you haven't seen the results you expected?

Maybe you've been praying.

Maybe you've been working.

Maybe you've been serving.

Maybe you've been encouraging someone.

Maybe you've been waiting for a promise to be fulfilled.

Don't assume that because you haven't seen the final result, God hasn't been working.

Moses climbed the mountain and discovered that the promise was real—even though he wouldn't personally walk into it.

Sometimes God allows us to see just enough to remind us that His promises are bigger than our timeline.

❤️ Today's Sound

You may not get to see everything God does through your obedience.

But that doesn't make your obedience meaningless.

Keep praying.
Keep serving.
Keep loving.
Keep believing.
Keep walking.

Finish the assignment God gave you.

Let God handle the part you cannot see.

🙏 Prayer

Father, help me be faithful even when I cannot see the results. Teach me not to measure my obedience by what I receive in return. When I become discouraged because someone else gets to finish what I started, remind me that Your plans are bigger than my individual role. Help me trust that every prayer, every sacrifice, every act of love, and every step of obedience matters to You. Give me the strength to finish my assignment well and the humility to celebrate when someone else carries the work forward. May my life leave behind a legacy of faithfulness that points others toward You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Wednesday with Wendy

Have you ever stopped to think about how much God has given us? From the beautiful sunrises and the trees that change with the seasons to the people we love and the breath in our lungs, every good thing reminds us of God's amazing creation.
Psalm 24:1 reminds us that everything belongs to the Lord. Sometimes, we get so caught up in our daily routines that we begin to think of our time, our possessions, and even our talents as things that belong only to us. But God reminds us that we are stewards of what He has entrusted to us.
That means we have an opportunity every day to honor Him with what we have. We can use our words to encourage someone, our hands to help those in need, and our time to show others the love of Jesus. We don't have to do something big to make a difference. Sometimes, the smallest act of kindness can be the very thing God uses to bless another person.
Today, take a moment to look around and thank God for what He has placed in your life. Remember, we are not the owners of everything we have; we are caretakers of God's blessings. Let's use what He has given us to bring Him glory and share His love with the world.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the beautiful world You created and for every blessing You have placed in my life. Help me remember that everything belongs to You. Teach me to be a good steward of my time, my talents, and my resources. Show me how to use what You have given me to bless others and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus' name, Amen.

“Show Me Your Glory”
Exodus 33:12–23

“My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” — Exodus 33:14 (NIV)

There are moments in life when we do not need another answer—we need to know that God is with us.

In Exodus 33, Moses is facing an uncertain future. The Israelites have failed God, and now Moses is asking for direction. He wants to know who will go with them and how they will know where to go.

Moses understood something important: the destination did not matter if God's presence was not going with them.

So Moses says,

“If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.” — Exodus 33:15

What a powerful prayer.

Moses was essentially saying, “God, I don't want to move forward without You.”

How often do we do the opposite?

We ask God to bless our plans instead of asking God what His plan is. We ask Him to open doors without first asking whether that is the door He wants us to walk through. We want the destination, the blessing, and the breakthrough—but sometimes we forget that God's presence is the greatest blessing of all.

Moses wasn't satisfied with simply knowing where he was going. He wanted to know Who was going with him.

And God answered:

“My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

That promise still speaks to us today.

You may not know what tomorrow holds. You may not understand why certain doors have closed. You may be standing at a crossroads wondering which direction to take.

But you don't have to see the entire road to take the next step.

You just need to know that God is with you.

Then Moses makes an even greater request:

“Now show me your glory.” — Exodus 33:18

Moses wanted to experience God more deeply. He wanted to see His glory—not simply hear about God, but encounter Him.

God told Moses that he could not see His full glory and live, but He would allow Moses to experience His presence in a way that he could bear.

There is a lesson here for us:

Sometimes God doesn't show us everything because we aren't ready to see everything.

We may ask God, “Show me the whole plan.”

God may answer, “Trust Me with the next step.”

We may ask, “Why did this happen?”

God may answer, “Stay close to Me.”

We may ask, “What's waiting for me on the other side?”

God may answer, “You don't need to know yet. My presence will go with you.”

The world tells us:

“You need to know what's next.”

Fear tells us:

“You need to have everything figured out.”

Impatience tells us:

“Move now before you miss your opportunity.”

But faith says:

“If God is with me, I can take the next step.”

Moses didn't ask God to make the journey easy.

He asked God to go with them.

That should be our prayer too.

❤️ Today's Sound

Don't be afraid of an unknown future when you know the God who holds it.

You may not know what is around the corner.

You may not know how everything will work out.

You may not even understand what God is doing right now.

But you can know this:

His presence is enough.

🙏 Saturday Reflection

What situation are you facing right now where you wish God would show you the entire plan?

What if, instead of asking God to reveal everything, you asked Him to help you recognize His presence in the next step?

Before you move forward, pray:

“Lord, if You are not going with me, I don't want to go. But if Your presence is with me, give me the courage to take the next step.”

🙏 Prayer

Father, I don't always understand where You are leading me, but I want Your presence more than I want my own plans. When I am afraid of the unknown, remind me that You already know what lies ahead. Give me the courage to move forward without having every answer. Help me trust You when I cannot see the whole picture. Show me Your glory in the ordinary moments, in the difficult seasons, and in the unexpected places. And above everything else, let Your presence go with me. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.”
Have you ever felt like life was moving so fast that you couldn't catch your breath? Between our responsibilities, our worries, and the needs of others, sometimes we forget to slow down and spend time with God.
In Psalm 46:10, God reminds us to be still and remember who He is. Being still doesn't mean that our problems disappear or that we have all the answers. It means we can stop trying to control everything and trust the One who is in control.
Sometimes, we spend so much time worrying about tomorrow that we miss the peace God wants to give us today. We need to remember that God is still God in the middle of our storms, in our seasons of uncertainty, and even when we don't understand what He's doing.
Today, take a moment to be still. Put down the worries, quiet the noise, and make room for God's presence. You don't have to have everything figured out because the God who created you is holding you in His hands.
Prayer:
Lord, help me slow down and be still in Your presence. When life feels overwhelming, remind me that You are in control. Quiet my worries, strengthen my faith, and help me trust You even when I cannot see the way forward. In Jesus' name, Amen.
