2 Corinthians 9:7
Scripture:
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
There is something beautiful about giving from the heart. Not because we have to, not because someone is watching, and not because we expect something in return—but simply because love motivates us.
As a pastor’s wife, I’ve seen generosity in so many forms. Sometimes it’s a meal brought to a hurting family, a handwritten card, a volunteer staying late to help, or someone quietly meeting a need without ever wanting recognition. Those moments reflect the heart of Christ.
God is not only concerned with what we give, but how we give it. A cheerful spirit changes everything. When we give with joy, whether it’s our time, encouragement, finances, or compassion, we become a light to others and a blessing to God’s kingdom.
The truth is, generosity doesn’t always come from having abundance. Some of the most giving people are those who have very little but still choose kindness. They understand that giving is an act of worship and trust.
Today, ask yourself:
Am I giving with joy, or simply out of obligation?
God loves a cheerful giver because cheerful giving reflects a thankful heart.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to give with a joyful heart. Teach me to be generous with my time, love, encouragement, and resources. Let my giving reflect Your goodness and grace. Amen.
