BRIT HADASHA FELLOWSHIP
STATEMENT OF FAITH
We believe that the Bible, comprised of the Tanakh (Old Testament) and the Brit Hadasha (New Testament), is God’s inspired Word and that it was entirely inerrant in the original manuscripts. It is the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and conduct, and that it is true in all that it affirms. We further uphold that non-biblical writin
gs, including those of the Talmudic era, while having some historical and ethical value, hold no authority over the life and faith of the believer. Prov 30:5,6; Isa 40:7,8; Jer 31:31; Mat 5:18; 2 Tim 3:16; 2 Pet 1:21
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three personsFather, Son and Holy Spirit; that all three possess equally all the same attributes, nature, perfection, and characteristics of personality. God is all-knowing, all-powerful, ever present, and changeless, and that He is holy, righteous, faithful, merciful and loving. Deut 6:4; Lev 11:45; Isa 43:10-11; 48:16; Mal 3:6
We believe that the Father is all fullness of the Godhead invisible. We rejoice that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through faith in Messiah Yeshua. Ex 4:22; Mat 3:17; Jn 1:12; 3:16; 8:24,58; Gal 3:26
We believe that Yeshua (Jesus) is the eternal and only begotten Son of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, Miriam (Mary), so that He possesses both divine and human natures. As the prophets foretold, He was the promised Messiah of Israel. He was sinless in His
life and He made atonement for the sins of the world by the shedding of His blood unto death. We believe in His bodily resurrection from the dead, His ascension, His high priestly work in heaven for us, and His personal return in power and glory. Lev 17:11; Ps 22:16; 110:4, Isa 7:14; 9:6,7; 52:13-53:12; Jer 23:5,6;
Dan 9:20-26; Mic 5:2; Zech 12:10; Mk 10:45; Jn 1:1; 8:58; Rom 3:24-26; 5:8,9;
1 Cor 15:3-8; 2 Cor 5:14,21; 1 Tim 3:16; Heb 1:2-3; 1 Pet 3:18; 1 Jn 2:1
We believe that the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) is a person of the Godhead, and thus possesses all of the distinct attributes of deity. He is ever present to glorify and to testify regarding Messiah Yeshua. The Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. He
permanently indwells, regenerates, and seals all believers. He guides, teaches, sanctifies, and empowers believers, imparting spiritual gifts to each one for the purpose of edifying and equipping the Body of Messiah. Gen 1:2; Ps 139:7-8; Neh 9:20; Jn 14:16-17; 15:26,27; 16:7-15;
1 Cor 2:10-11; 12:4-31; Eph 1:13-14; 4:30; 1 Jn 5:6
We believe that humanity was created in the image of God, but because of the sin of the original man, Adam, a fallen nature is transmitted to all of his descendants. Thus all people, with the
exception of Yeshua, are by nature and choice sinful and alienated from God. Man has no possible means of reconciling himself to God, and by persisting in the sinful state of unbelief, man is justly condemned by God to eternal separation and punishment. Gen 1:26,27; 2:17; 3:6; Isa 53:6; 64:6; Jer 17:9; Mk 7:20-23; Jn 2:24,25; Rom 5:12-15; Eph 2:1-3
We believe that humanity is reconciled to God, being justified by grace through faith in the atoning work of Messiah Yeshua. Furthermore, there is no way of salvation by virtue of one’s goodness or religious acts apart from faith in Yeshua for any person, Jew or Gentile. Being
reconciled, man has peace with God and direct access to Him through Messiah Yeshua and has the hope of eternal glory in Heaven with God. We believe that all who have truly trusted in Messiah Yeshua are kept eternally secure by the power of God through the new birth and the
indwelling and sealing ministry of the Holy Spirit. Gen 15:6; Hab 2:4; Jn 1:12,13; 10:28-30; 14:6,16,17; Acts 4:12;
Rom 3:28; 8:38,39; Eph 1:7; 2:8,9; 4:30; 1 Tim 2:5; Titus 3:5
We believe that the New Covenant body of Messiah is comprised of all people who are true believers in Yeshua, who is its head. We affirm that Yeshua has reconciled believing Jews and Gentiles in this body, thus making both groups into one new man. The common purpose of the
body is to glorify God through worship, instruction, accountability, fellowship and outreach. We affirm Yeshua’s command to keep the ordinances of baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper, and to make disciples of all nations. Mat 16:18; 29:18-20; Lk 22:19-20; Acts 1:5; 2:14-38; 1 Cor 12:13; Eph 2:11-15; Col 1:18-20; 3:14,15
We believe that God ordained holy angels to bring about His intended plans and purposes and to minister to all believers (Isa 6:1-7; Dan 10:10-21; Lk 15:10; Eph 1:21; Heb 1:14; Rev 7:11-12). We further believe that Satan is the chief enemy of God and our souls, and that while he continues to rule this present world, Messiah Yeshua’s atoning death and resurrection have defeated him. Satan is the father of lies and the tempter of all forms of evil, including hatred of
the Jewish people. Gen 3:1-19; Lk 10:17-18; Jn 8:44; Col 2:14-15; Rev 12:13
We believe that God’s covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and the descendants of Israel is an everlasting, irrevocable and unconditional covenant. We affirm that in every generation God has raised up a faithful remnant of Jewish believers in Messiah, and that Scripture promises the eventual salvation of national Israel. Non-Jewish believers become adopted sons and daughters of Abraham, grafted into the olive tree of Israel, and thus partakers in the same spiritual blessings. All believers are called to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Gen 12:1-3; 17:7,8; 26:3,4; 28:13-15; Ps 105:8; 122:6; Zech 12:10; Rom 9:3-5; 10:1-5; 11:2-29; Gal 3:29
We believe that the Torah (Law of Moses) was given both as a means of revealing the nature of sin and as a guide for daily living, but that it was never a means of justification, which comes by grace through faith alone. The Law was intended to lead us to Yeshua who did not come to
abolish it, but He became its fulfillment and thus satisfied its sacrificial requirements, while also demonstrating how to live out its societal precepts summed up by the command to love your neighbor as yourself. Believers in Yeshua are not under obligation to the Old Covenant, but are under the New Covenant in which God writes His law on our hearts. Believers have a stewardship to utilize the entire Word of God, including living in a godly manner in accord with His commandments. God has given us holy days as a means of expressing His faithfulness and proclaiming His redemptive plan, while at the same time calling believers not to judge one another regarding ways of worship.
