Romans 8:26–39

This passage from Romans reminds us that—through the Holy Spirit—God loves us and is with us always. God understands and cares about all the struggles we go through, even if we don’t really understand them ourselves. God offers us comfort and wisdom. One way God does this is by helping us support one another. God’s love has made us all one big family—a community of faith. Communities work together to help each other, so everyone gets the support they need. As a community, we can do more together than we ever could do on our own.

Psalm 139:1–12, 23–24

This psalm reminds us that because God is love, God will be with us wherever we go. God is with us in the dim, difficult times of our lives as well as in the good and joyful times.

Genesis 25:19–34

In our story, a simple bowl of stew became part of a much bigger story about jealousy, hunger, belonging, and a desire to feel important. We used the story to explore how people care for one another through big feelings, conflict, and difficult moments.

Practicing hospitality means helping people feel welcome, valued, and safe. Sunday, we read and talked about Rebekah’s act of hospitality toward the traveler and his camels.
