What are you building your life on?

Jesus closes the Sermon on the Mount with a contrast: two builders, two foundations, and two very different outcomes.

The storm comes for both. The difference is whether we hear His words and put them into practice.

The Sermon on the Mount was never meant to be admired from a distance. It's an invitation to trust Jesus, follow Him, and build our lives on the solid rock that stands when everything else shakes.

And the good news? God has given us His Spirit to empower the very life Jesus calls us to live.

When the storms come, what foundation will remain?

There are only two roads.

Jesus says the narrow gate leads to life—and that gate is Him.

Not religion. Not good intentions. Not trying harder. Jesus alone.

The broad road is everything else, and while it may feel easier now, it ultimately leads to destruction.

The good news? Jesus invites us onto a different path. A narrow way that leads to real life, real peace, and lasting joy in the kingdom of God.

Not because we’re good enough.
Because He is.

Too often, we settle for managing life on our own.

Pushing through.
Staying distracted.
Learning to live around the things only God can change.

But Jesus gives a different invitation:
Ask. Seek. Knock.

Not casually. Persistently.
Not overcoming God’s reluctance—
but leaning into His willingness.

The good life God has for us only comes through prayer.

Join us tomorrow morning as we continue through Matthew.

Rest first.

Not after the work is done.
Not when everything feels secure.

Now.

Jesus doesn’t just say “don’t worry.”
He reminds us who’s actually in control.

The birds aren’t striving.
The flowers aren’t anxious.
And your Father cares for you even more.

Because your security was never meant to come from you—
but from a God who already cares for you.

Rest isn’t passive—it’s trust.
A posture that says, I’m not the provider… You are.

Jesus doesn’t want more from you—He wants something better for you.
A kind of security money could never give.

Where your treasure is, your heart will be also.
And you can’t serve both God and money.

We’ll keep walking through the Sermon on the Mount tomorrow.

What are you actually praying for right now?

Not the quick meal blessing.
Not the “God, help today.”

The real stuff—
your inbox,
your parenting exhaustion,
your anxiety.

How often do we try to be independent…
forgetting we need God every single day?

“Give us today our daily bread.”
Simple. Honest. Dependent.

Pray for what you need—
and need the One you pray to.
