St. Stephenson Pentecostal Church

St. Stephenson Pentecostal Church In the late 1960s, a small group of Christians came together to start a ministry. The group was anxious to grow, additional members joined in
1970. St.

The
group’s pastor, Elder Mackey, relocated from New Jersey, and Gateway to Heaven
Church was born. Notable members include: Mother Daisy Tweety, Mother Queen Jones,
Deacon David McInnis Senior, Evelyn Terry, Eddie Stephenson, Kaylin Brice, and
Willie Brice. Although the church was growing in number, the group had no place
to worship. Services were held in a building located on Camp Bethune St

reet. Deacon David McInnis Senior, answered the Lord’s call to minister the gospel, and
was installed as pastor of the church in 1976. The church was renamed St. Stephenson Pentecostal Church, under the leadership of Household of Faith
Ministries, led by Bishop A. Foxworth Senior. However, the major task of building
a sanctuary devoted to God and His word was not yet realized. Transition and change begin to flow toward the ministry. Church members
relocated, and ministers left the church to start new ministries. These changes
forced St. Stephenson Pentecostal Church to think about the future, the church’s
mission, and needs. The decision was made to continue the ministry under the
leadership of Pastor David McInnis Senior, and to withdraw from the Household of
Faith Ministries. Pastor David McInnis Senior was elevated to Bishop, and
through his love for the ministry he opened the doors of his home to the church. Stephenson Pentecostal Church was now an independent ministry. In 1999, a ground breaking ceremony was held and construction began to build a
sanctuary at 2025 Haines Street, Charlotte, NC. In 2001, Bishop David McInnis
Senior turned the leadership of the church over to Prophetess Kaylin Brice, and
she was ordained as pastor. Additional members joined the church. Stephenson Pentecostal Church experienced change once again. In 2005,
the City of Charlotte initiated eminent domain proceedings to acquire the
church building and land located at 2025 Haines Street, Charlotte, NC. Pastor Adam Culp opened the doors of his church, God’s House of Zion, and
St. Stephenson Pentecostal Church was provided a temporary place to worship. Under the leadership of Pastor Kaylin Brice, the church acquired a sanctuary
located at 286 Office Drive SW, Concord, NC. On July 25, 2010, the sanctuary
was ordained and dedicated to the glory of God and His word. Today we give all thanks to God for His blessings and grace. We look forward to
servicing the community, through the principals of Jesus Christ, and teaching the
true word of God. We welcome you to visit and join us in celebrating the gift of
Jesus Christ.

Pastor Brice’s sermon-Let Your Light So Shine: Give God The Glory
Scripture: Matthew 5: 13-16
Purpose: To Encourage the Heart the Believer
Pastor Brice instructs the congregates today about light and salt
Pastor reminds of us the teachings of the Apostle Paul-(Philippians 2:15)-That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world. We too in the current era live in a crooked and a perverse nation, but are to let our lights shine and glorify our father, the Light of the world, which is in heaven. (Ref: Matt 5:16) In this passage of scripture, Jesus was teaching the Disciples that his followers are similar to light and salt. If we being salt, loose our savor, we are good for nothing and no one light’s a candle and then stick under a bush, but we are to represent that Kingdom of God every day, not when we feel like it. So, when something happens that is not right, we need to take stand for righteousness. (Hello, Legislators’-when is the time to talk about gun violence? As long as lobbyist fund your campaigns, it’s never the time, but it’s past time to stand for what is right!) Moreover, be careful of one of so many false doctrines in the land. However, the one Pastor Brice spoke out against today is the multiple ways to get to Heaven. There is only one way-John 14:6-Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto Father, but by me. Moreover, John 8:12-Jesus said, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. In closing, we can be a lighthouse, a beacon, and a light in a dark world. We (Believers) have an obligation to demonstrate the B-attitudes. We have an obligation to tell someone that the wages of sin death, but the gift of God is eternal life. Foods for thought….What are you hungry for?;a new home, a new car, monies, that winning lottery ticket? It’s good to have things as long as we have the correct perspective on them. Matt 5:6 says, blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. The Lord says if we seek him first, he’ll add unto us. Conclusion: Let Your Light So Shine: Give God The Glory! (Psls-19:18: Matt 7:24) Let Your Light So Shine: Praise His Excellent Name! Last, but not least-we pray you have a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving in Jesus' name.

Purpose: To Encourage Everyone Everywhere to Know the Lord
November 12, 2023-Morning Worship Service
Pastor Kaylin Brice’s sermon-(Rhetorical)-Do You Know Who the Lord Is?
Scripture text: Psalm 100: 1-5
Vs. 3-Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Pastor Brice starts off by reminding us what is stated in St. John 10: 3-4(paraphrased)-Jesus is the good Shepherd and his sheep (we, the children of the Lord) know his voice and a stranger we will not follow. She asks again, Do you know that Jesus is God? Do you know him as maker and creator? It’s important today that we know the Lord for ourselves. When you know the Lord, you know that there’s salvation in him, he’s rock when you need a solid foundation, he’s a shelter in a time of a storm, he’s the living word of God, and he’s alpha and omega. When you know who the Lord is; you can bless his name in the good times, and you can bless his name in the bad times. When you know who the Lord is, you know he’s never late and he’s always on time. His record is excellent for being available to you whenever you need him to be. Psalms 46:10-states, Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Just look around the world. The Lord’s name is being exalted in the home, in the Church, on the radio, on social media, on the phone, in the hearts of man, in the heavens, and the universe testifies of his glory! Last, but not least, even in a wilderness experience in life, exalt the Lord and allow him to show you great and mighty things. Do you know who the Lord is? If you know who the Lord is, then continue to occupy until he comes. If you don’t know who he is, please join yourself to a Bible believing ministry and get to know the Lord while you have a chance. In closing, Be still and know the Lord; For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Pastor Brice says today’s message is to encourage the people of God today.
David was on the run from Absalom, his son. David’s son Absalom became very angry with his father due to one of Absalom’s brothers (from a different mother) r***d his sister. Absalom felt that David did not respond to this vile act the way he thought he should have. (As a result, his sister lived in shame and this was no fault of her doing). This was brought about due the sin David committed when he had Uriah placed on the front line of battle after he had lain with this man’s wife.) In short, no sin goes unpunished…
Today’s text comes from Psalms 61-The Prayer of a Troubled Heart
Topic: God will keep us strong
1. He created us
2. He knows us
3. He loves us
The Lord listens to our prayers; we were created to be in communication with the Lord and prayer is how we do this. Verse 3-tells us for thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. (The Lord is our refuge always in times of trouble) First Samuel 15:13 (paraphrased word came to King David) Your son is come against you to take away your throne. David fled for his life and was very sorrowful. He left the palace not out of fear, but out of true concern and worry for his child. He did not want to see Absalom cut down in his youth. Psalms 46:10-Be still and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen; I will be exalted in the earth. I challenge you today to call on the name of the Lord and watch him deliver you. Rhetorical-Are you crying out the Lord? Are you asking God to hear your supplication? Be committed the Lord and the Lord in turn will be committed to you. Pastor Brice also educates us on today that whenever we see the word, Selah. It’s a Hebrew word that means forever. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. It ain’t no harm to cry. Sometimes, we must cry out, but know who you’re crying out to. Cry out to God and he will answer your prayers. The next time you prayer, don’t forget to pray for Ukraine, don’t forget to pray for Israel, and pray always for yours brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus as well as those without Christ. Pastor admonishes us to cry out to him when things are good; as well as, when things are bad. Depend on the Lord. Lean on the Lord. Conclusion; God will keep us strong; There is always safety in the arms of the Lord. (References: Psalms 46; 10,61:3, 62;7, 84:6, and Psalms 90 &91)

Speaker: Deacon Levy Na’Shawn Williams
Topic: “You Can’t Fake Steak” (As seen on Longhorn Restaurant’s to go bags)
Scripture: Romans 1:26-27, and 32
Deacon Williams told us today that his topic is not so much about steak as it is about Jesus. Deacon Williams began his sermon today explaining to us how his topic was provided to him. Afterward, he gave us an example of life with Jesus vs. a life of sin without Jesus. Jesus, like steak, is the real thing. You can fake a life with Christ. You are a believer or you’re not a believer. Unfortunately, the world today encourages the Children of men to seek unholy lifestyle choices without Christ in them. Children, there is no way of living a good life without Jesus, this is a life void of the reassurances that comes from serving the Lord. In Matt 7:15-Jesus, Himself, warns us of false prophets which approach in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves. Remember a corrupt tree yields false fruit. We want to be real, like a good tree that yields good fruit in its season. Secondly, First Timothy 6:3-Tells us if any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness: (you need to stay away from this type of doctrine). Deacon Williams admonishes us today, to get the real thing, to get Jesus and not seek a substitute for holy, righteous, and clean living. Lastly, Life’s menu is filled with choices, and options. You can choose something fake, void of Jesus and void of eternal life at the end of this journey or you can choose the real thing, and you can choose Jesus. Both options offers substance, but which is going to sustain in bad and in good times. Joshua said it best, “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15 in closing, a lifestyle with Jesus can’t be fake. Have a real relationship with Christ. There is no by product for Jesus Christ our Lord.

Pastor Kaylin Brice’s sermon: The church will live on and endure the test of time.
Topic: The Church will live on in the test of time.
Time has a way of catching up with all of us. As you get older, things you used to do you’ll find yourself you can’t do anymore. This Church has stood the test of time. Like in First John 2:19-They went out from us, but they were not of us; for it they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. Even when people leave the ministry and want to see it fall, the Lord for the remnant that tries to do right will allow his house to stand the test of time. The Church will live on built on Christ the solid rock. We’re standing on Jesus by God’s grace. The Lord has given us 54 years of ministry. Pastor Brice reminded us that we have a great occasion to bless the Lord as stated in Psalms 34. We will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. The Lord has made a way out of no way for the Word of God to keep going forth. That’s what we are here for to share the word of God and to depend on the Lord. Truly, we are living in the last days and circumstances and events shock and surprise us, but nothing shocks and surprises our God. Don’t worry about the White House, but rest assured God’s house is always here for those that believe on him. Conclusion, The Church will live and endure the test of time. (Scripture refs: Psalms 27, Psalms 4:10, Proverbs 4: Matt 2:10, Psalms 5:41; Matt 7:24, Matt 8:20, Matt 14:2, Matt 21:11 and Matt 24 :4) Scripture Text: 7: 24-25 & Matt 16: 13-19)

Elder Carla Brice-Talley’s sermon, entitled: Let Not Heart Be Troubled
Scripture Text: John 14: 27
Scripture Text: Philippians 4: 1-7
The Lord has made a way for his children to be revived. Why do we need a revival? Our temporary home, Earth, is full of trouble. We’re seeing the word God come to pass, there’s wars and rumors of wars, there’s no shortage of famine, pestilence and wide spread diseases, and often times when we’re at peace trouble disturbs our peace if we let it. Philippians 4:6-says be careful for nothing: but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God. Elder Talley told us here, be careful means don’t worry, don’t be anxious, and don’t be agitated by the cares of the world. When we take our worries to Jesus he’ll take care of our cares. He’s not saying don’t worry; because, you can just be without or you don’t need anything. Jesus is saying he will supply our needs so there is no need to be fretful for how this will work out or how that will work out. When we go to the Lord in prayer we supplicate everything and give it to him. Supplication is more than prayer; it’s an up close communication with our Lord. Elder Talley also reminded us that the Lord knows what we need before we even ask. He wants to bless us and he wants us to be thankful. We are to go before him with thanksgiving. Yes, while you’re waiting for a change in your circumstances be thankful for what the Lord is doing, going to do and what he will do. Lastly, the peace of God, which passeth understanding, shall keep our hearts and minds in Christ. The peace God gives is like no other peace. Why does it surpass all understanding; because, it’s above our comprehension. We don’t have to be troubled nor afraid no matter what is going on from the White House to your House, the peace that comes from the Lord belongs not to the world, but to the children of God. In her conclusion: Accept the peace that only Jesus gives. Let not your heart be troubled; neither let it be afraid. (John 14: 27)

Elder Carla Brice-Talley’s sermon, entitled: A Well Rounded Christian
Theme: Life in Christ
Scripture Text: First Corinthians 15: 54-58
Scripture Text: First Corinthians 16: 13-14
Elder Brice-Talley began her sermon educating us about the need to be revived. Life is full of challenges and as we reflect over what one experiences in a day, often we need the word of God to revive those of us who believe on him. Just think about the past month, the past week up to the times when we press the pause button on life and connect with the Lord, we need reviving. The world is big on inclusion and diversity. Jesus mastered this long ago. For he alone is most inclusive. Who will Christ not save? Jesus will save anyone who wants to be saved. He’ll deliver you if need deliverance. He’ll free you from the shackles of sin if you desire liberty. So, 1st Cor. 15: 54-58-reminds us that we have victory through our Lord Jesus Christ and that our labor is not in vain in the Lord. 1st Cor. 16: 13-tells us to not be caught off guard and to be watching for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. Secondly, we are to stand fast in the faith which means we are stationary, we’re grounded in Christ what come what may. Thirdly, quit you like men, means to be mature. The same way we grow in the natural we must grow up spiritually and be strong in the Lord. Elder told us this definition of strong means to make the flesh smaller and our spirit man grows larger. Finally, verse 14 tells us in all things we do, we do with love. In her conclusion, a well rounded Christian has a revival mindset at all times. Knowing this world is not home, we’re preparing to be caught up with the Lord in due season. (Please feel free to join us Thursday night and Friday night as the Lord allows Elder Carla Brice-Talley to give to us what the Lord has given to her.)

Pastor Brice’s sermon, entitled: Let God Direct Your Path
Scripture Text: Exodus 20: 1-4-Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Scripture Text: Matthew 22: 36-37-Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Scripture Text: Proverbs 3: 1-6-Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In Proverbs, David was speaking to his son, Solomon, giving him fatherly advice. He told him to not forget his law and let his heart keep God’s commandments for length of days and long life and a life of peace. In addition, he told him to get wisdom and with all his getting, to get understanding. When we do these things; in return, we allow the Lord to direct our paths. Israel was instructed to bind the scripture around their necks. We too are to write the scriptures in our heart. When we do this, we allow the Lord to direct our paths. Pastor Brice reminded us today, Luke 2:52-Jesus increased wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. When we let the Lord direct our paths, we too will grow in favor with God. Man is unpredictable; but God is always consistent and stable. Finally, before closing, Pastor Brice tells us to recall, John 13:34-Jesus said, A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. He went on to say; By this men shall know that ye are my disciples. When we do this, in return, we allow the Lord to direct our paths. Conclusions, Let God direct your path. When we put no other god before him, when we love the Lord our God with all our soul, with all our heart and with all our might, and when we lean not to our own understanding, but trust him in every aspect of our lives…He’ll direct our path.

Joshua 24: Vs. 14th-16th
Subject: We Need to Make a Conscious Decision
Just like in the days Joshua, people are serving everything but God. Pastor Brice tells us today to make up your mind; in other words, make a conscious decision. For example, In the book of Kings when Ahab the King and his wicked wife Jezebel made a conscious decision to worship and service an idol god; Elijah, the prophet told Ahab, “As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.” The word of God lets us know that because the Prophet served the Almighty God, his words did not fall to the ground. In short, what the Prophet said would always come to pass. Pastor Brice asks SSPC today whom you’re going to serve. Today, our young are gravitating to everything, but spiritual things. In this passage of scripture, Joshua was reviewing Israel’s history and getting ready to go home with the Lord. He reminded Israel of its exodus out of Egypt, the crossing over the Red Sea, the wonderings in the wilderness, the Spies making it a 2nd time around making to the Promised Land, and the defeat of Jericho just to name some blessings the Lord had done. Joshua was asking Israel to make a conscious decision to serve the Lord. He called the heads of the 12 tribes, the officers, and the Levites. He told the people to choose you this day whom ye shall serve. Pastor Brice reminds SSPC we must live right, we must be willing to say for God I live and for God I die, we must be willing to trust the Lord in spite of everything and finally, the Lord has said he’ll never leave us nor forsake us! We ought to be like Joshua and say, as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Pastor Brice reminds us yet again, that our bodies are the temple of the Lord and while we’re living we must choose whom we will serve. Don’t look at Pastor Brice or Deacon Brice for the answers, but stay with the Lord. Inclosing, Make a conscious decision today, but choose!

Pastor Brice’s sermon entitled: He was there all the time
Scripture Text: John 1:1-3 & Hebrews 1: 1-5-Scripture tells us…In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God and there was not anything made that was made because all things were made by him. Moreover, our reference in Hebrews teaches us that Jesus, being the brightness of God Almighty and the express image of his person, upheld all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high. Yes, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost was there all the time. So, often times when things happen that the world doesn’t understand, a question will arise by someone…”Where was God when this or that occurred”? The answer, right there the whole time. For Genesis 1:26-states-And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeepeth upon the earth. See the beautiful thing about the Lord we serve is he does not force himself on us and he allows us to choose to serve him. So, remember no matter what is going on, He’s there all the time. Furthermore, Hebrews goes on to say that the Father gave his son, Jesus, a name above every name. Just reading this passage of scripture, we marvel at how the Apostle Paul opens the first book expounding upon our Lord and Savior. In the Old Testament, God revealed his word through the fathers of old by the Prophets and in the New Testament his word is revealed via Jesus Christ, our Lord. Jesus alone is Supreme, Excellent, and Magnificent. Isaiah 9:6 calls him Wonderful, Counseller, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father and the Prince of Peace.
David told us in Psalms 8-that his name is Excellent in all the earth! Pastor Brice admonishes SSPC that Jesus is everything we need. The Saints of old used to sing, Jesus on the main line, why don’t you call him up? And tell him what you want…If you call on Jesus, he will answer prayer…No matter what’s going on, man is not in charge; Jesus is in charge. He is the Alpha and the Omega. Next time someone asks, “ Where was God or where was Jesus when this or that happened”? Respond: Appropriately-He was there all the time. In closing, Jesus was, and is, and is to come again.

Scripture: Jonah 1:1-2 & Matthew 12:38-41
Topic: You can’t run from God, because God has your record.
Fact checking is popular today in light of seeking the truth in news by various means of social media. Although it’s popular now among people; however, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost has always fact checked mankind to the word given to man to follow. Jesus was saying in the text (Matt 12: 38-41) that a Prophet named Jonah preached, Nineveh repented, but a much greater Prophet, himself, was speaking to them, (the Pharisees) and they rejected one far greater than Jonah. As a result, the men of Nineveh would arise at the judgment and condemn it (wicked generation) because of unbelief. Pastor Brice admonishes us (SSPC) that God’s way is the best way! Jonah was hardheaded and disobedient. Jonah had a real hatred for the people of Nineveh did not think these people should be given the opportunity to experience the Lord’s mercy. (Nineveh was an enemy to Israel, so Jonah at first refused to go deliver the word of the Lord to this great city of it’s time wanting it to be destroyed by the Lord’s wrath.) However, the same God that showed love, mercy and grace to Nineveh is still showing mercy to those who have outright refused to hear the word of the Lord today. Pastor Brice reminds us (SSPC) that Jonah didn’t free-load his way, but he purchased a ticket and paid his fair to go away from Nineveh and go to Joppa to board a ship going to Tarshish. Look at our God just sitting up in Heaven watching Jonah disobey him, and just like a disobedient child, he has the nerve to go sleep on the ship as if he’s going to rest of disobeying the voice of the Almighty. The Lord being who he is with all power in his hand cause a great wind to forth into the sea and a mighty tempest into the sea. Often times when we disobey the Lord, storms of life will began to rage and some of us are like Jonah, trying to sleep through life as if the Lord is not talking to you. Moreover, the word of God tells us when the Mariners cast lots to determine who brought this evil on their ship and a journey they were so familiar with, the lots fell to Jonah. These poor men did everything to prevent Jonah’s blood from being on their hands. Pastor Brice reminds us (SSPC) if there are any Jonahs in the congregation, (You can’t run and you can’t hide). Once the Mariners threw Jonah overboard, they begin to believe on the Almighty God. Jonah cried by reason of his affliction. Jonah cried because he was in the belly of hell 3 days and 3 nights. Jonah had to repent and say salvation is of the Lord. Look at the love, mercy, and compassion, God showed Jonah, he allowed the fish to throw up Jonah on dry ground. The word of God says, after this Jonah got in a hurry to do God’s will and got to Nineveh, and delivered the word of the Lord. The King declared a fast and man nor beast ate anything and repentance occurred and Nineveh was spared. However, Jonah was still angry and wanted to see those people destroyed. Pastors, Ministers, Evangelist, whomever, when God withholds his wrath after salvation has come to anyone, we should be happy and rejoice! Vengeance is the Lord’s and not ours to grant; Thankfully, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost has the final say and not man! Concluding-SSPC-You can’t run; you can’t hide; The Lord is always fact checking and he has our records. Obedience is better than sacrifice.

Scripture References [Romans 1: 14-17]
Pastor Kaylin Brice’s sermon today:
Subject: We have an obligation to tell dying men and women that the wages of sin is death, and the gift of God is eternal life.
The Apostle Paul tells us He is a debtor to the Greeks and Barbarians, both to the wise, and to the unwise. Pastor Brice tells St. Stephenson’s old and young we have a responsibility to tell people about Jesus. The Apostle told us 4 facts re: his ministry…
• Apostle Paul is a servant of Jesus Christ
• He was called to be an Apostle
• He’s been set apart to preach the Gospel
• Missionary to Gentiles
He had a desire to preach to Israel; however, Christ proved to be a stumbling block to the Jews. The Apostle Paul preached how Christ was foretold in the Old Testament and many refuse to believe. As a result, the wrath of God was brought about by the world’s sinning. However, we who have accepted Christ understand that sin has no place in the Christian’s life. For Romans 6:12 states-Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Furthermore, since Christ came there is no cloak for sin and sinning. All sins were nailed to the cross with Christ being our propitiation. It’s important that we not deceive ourselves, because there are consequences for sin and sinfulness. Just as its stated in the beginning, we are to worship the Creator and not the creature. Sin has brought about the fall of our world, but thanks are to God for Jesus Christ, our Lord. Our bill has come due and we are all in debt to one another, whether you be a Greek or a Barbarian, we have a debt to pay to tell someone about the Goodness of Jesus! In Closing, just like the song-I’m Building’ Me a Home by William Elliott Whitmore-The Morehouse Men’s Choir sings it so well-This earthly house is gonna soon decay and my soul got have (Praise God) somewhere to stay!
