SPIRITUAL WARFARE

For the instruments of our warfare are not carnal,
but mighty through God to the pulling down of
strongholds; casting down imaginations, and
every high thing that exalts itself against the
knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity
every thought to the obedience of Christ...
(2 Corinthians Chapter 10, verses 4 & 5)

In today's Scriptures, the Apostle Paul wrote to the believers in Corinth about spiritual warfare. He was led by the Holy Spirit to teach about where these battles take place. Our mind is the battlefield. These strongholds are thoughts and imaginations which exalt themselves against the knowledge of God. As believers,
We are instructed to cast down every thought and imagination that is contrary or in opposition to God's word and bring them into captivity. Our adversary will battle against us in our thought life so we must be on guard. Let's refuse wrong thoughts, remove them from our minds and replace them with the knowledge of God that is in agreement with His word.

PRAYER

Our Father God. Thank you for giving us your word. Please help us to battle by faith in your word and overcome in the battlefield of our minds in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

GOING THE RIGHT WAY

Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way
of understanding.
(Proverbs Chapter 9, verse 6)

In today's Scripture, the writer of this proverb gives wise advice to everyone who will listen. By forsaking the ways of people who are unwise, a person can live and go in the right way instead. So often, we can be prone to live in a reckless and foolish way which can shorten one's life. By forsaking the wrong way and choosing to follow God's good way, we will find that we're now going in the way of understanding. Let's trust in God's word with all our hearts and yield to the guidance of His Holy Spirit in our lives.

PRAYER

Our Father in heaven. Today I turn from following the opinions and ways of people who are not living wisely. LORD, I need you to guide me in the right way that you want me to follow. I trust in your word Father, and I thank you for leading me. Amen.

THE CALL OF WISDOM

She has sent forth her maidens: she cries upon
the highest places of the city, whoso is simple,
let him turn in here: as for him that lacks under-
standing, she says to him, come eat of my bread,
and drink of the wine which I have mingled.
(Proverbs Chapter 9, Verses 3-9)

In today's Scriptures, wisdom is portrayed as a woman who calls out to people who are simple and lacking understanding. To lack understanding means to be unaware or unknowing about something. Just as the seductress calls out to the young man who is void of understanding (Proverbs Chapter 7), so wisdom cries out to people who need godly counsel. Let's eat the bread and drink the wine of God's spiritual wisdom by listening to, and obeying His word from our hearts.

PRAYER

LORD our God and Father. Today I acknowledge you in my thoughts, attitude, and actions. Please give me wisdom and guidance in the decisions that I need to make. I'm depending on you and I thank you LORD. Amen.

UNAWARENESS

He was in the world, and the world was made
by Him, and the world knew Him not.
(John Chapter 1, Verse 10)

In today's Scripture, the Apostle John was inspired to write about the world not knowing Jesus. Although He came from heaven to this world which He had made, He was not known by His creation. Perhaps you can remember a time in life when you did not know who Jesus was, or that He came to save us from our sins. This is true for every born again child of God. Let's give thanks unto the Lord Jesus that we know Him now for ourselves.

PRAYER

Our Father in heaven. Thank you for revealing yourself to us through your Son, Jesus Christ. We are very blessed to know you, and more importantly, that you know us as your children. Thank you LORD. Amen.

THE ETERNAL WORD

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word
was with God, and the Word was God.
(John Chapter 1, Verse 1)

In today's Scripture, the Apostle John was inspired to write about the Word being with God in the beginning. In the beginning when God created the heaven and the earth (Genesis Chapter 1, Verse 1), the Word was there with God. This "Word" that was with God, and was God, is Jesus Christ. The Bible declares,
"For through Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers; all things were created by Him, and for Him...(Colossians Chapter 1 Verse 16). Let's give thanks to God and His Word Jesus Christ who came to save the world that He created.

PRAYER

Our Father God. We thank for Jesus your Word who was made flesh to be our Savior. Thank you Jesus for coming from heaven to this world to redeem us back to God. Amen.

NOT AS PEOPLE SEE

But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his
countenance, or on the height of his stature; because
I have refused him: for the LORD sees not as man sees;
for man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD
looks on the heart.
(1 Samuel Chapter 16, Verse 7)

In today's Scripture, the LORD said this great truth to Samuel the prophet. According to outward appearance, the brother of David looked like the ideal choice to be the next king of Israel, but the LORD had not chosen him. God does not simply look on how someone looks. He sees the hearts of all people and He is pleased with those who embrace the truth on the inside. Let's strive to worship God in spirit and in truth, for He seeks such to worship Him.

PRAYER

LORD our God and Father. You desire truth in our inward parts. Please create in us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us. We love and thank you LORD. Amen.

GOD IS EVER PRESENT

Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee
from your presence? If I ascend up into heaven, you are
there: if I make my bed in the grave, behold, you are there.
If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the utter-
most parts of the sea; even there shall your hand lead
me, and your right hand shall hold me.
(Psalm Chapter 139, Verses 7-10)

In today's Scriptures, David was inspired to express how God was ever present in his life. If he was in the lowest part of the earth, or the highest parts of heaven, he knew the LORD was with him. This is known as the Omnipresence of God, which means, He is present in all places at all times. Our God is a Spirit, and He is not bound by space or time. Being the Infinite One, there is no place where He is not present. Let's take courage in knowing that no matter where we are, God is an ever present help in our time of need.

PRAYER

Our great God and Father. Thank you for the truth that you're not bound by any limitation. Thank you for your good presence in each of our lives. Like the writer of this psalm, please bless us to realize that you are our Omnipresent Father. Amen.

TRUST

Trust in the LORD forever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH
is everlasting strength.
(Isaiah Chapter 26, Verse 4)

In today's Scripture, the word of God was brought through Isaiah the prophet. This song was to be sung in the land of Judah, yet it contains truth that will edify [build up] every child of God. Throughout the Bible we are encouraged to "Trust in the LORD." The question today is: What does this mean? In this passage, the word trust carries the meaning, "to put confidence in, or be sure." Perhaps this sentence will help us with this word:
T-otal
R-eliance
U-nder
S-erious
T-esting
All of God's children experience testing or trying of faith in this life, but we can rely on our faithful God. Let's strive to Totally Rely on our Father, the LORD JEHOVAH.

PRAYER

LORD JEHOVAH our Father. Today we commit our way to you, for we are trusting in you. Please enable us to put all our confidence in you. We love and praise you LORD. Amen.

THE WISE PERSON

A wise person will hear, and will increase learning; and
a person of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels.
(Proverbs Chapter 1, Verse 5)

In today's Scripture, the Spirit of God led Solomon to write about the wise person. The first characteristic of a wise person is they will hear or listen. We must be willing to listen in order to learn. A wise and understanding person will not listen to just any type of counsel however. Instead, they will attain or receive wise counsel that is in line with the principles of God's word. Let's not walk in the counsel/advice of the ungodly, but seek to follow the counsel of the LORD our God.

PRAYER

LORD our God and Father. Your word says that your counsel will stand. Please guide us by your wisdom and understanding. Tune
our hearts to hear your words and show us the path that you want us to walk in. Thank you LORD. Amen.

HE COMPLETES HIS WORK

Being confident of this very thing, that He which has
began a good work in you will perform it until the day
of Jesus Christ:
( Philippians Chapter 1, Verse 6)

In today's Scripture, the Apostle Paul was led to share a wonderful truth with the believers who were in Philippi. He encouraged them how he was confident that God who had started a good work in them would see it to completion. God would continue working in His children until the day of the Lord Jesus Christ. Let's trust in the Holy Spirit of God who has began this good work in us and that He will complete it.

PRAYER

Our Father in heaven. Thank you for the good work you have began in each of us. Lord Jesus we're trusting that you will see it through to completion. Amen.

MINISTERING SPIRITS

For the Almighty shall give His angels charge over you,
to keep you in all your ways.
(Psalm Chapter 91, Verse 11)

In today's Scripture, the writer of this psalm shared about God's ministering agents. These servants of the Most High God are appointed by Him to perform many different tasks. One particular purpose they have is ministering for God's people. "Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?" ( Hebrews Chapter 1, Verse 4).
God has appointed many of His angels to keep and defend his people according to His will and purposes in their lives. The angels of the LORD are to be honored and respected, yet they are not to be worshipped in any way. Although they excel in power and strength, these angels worship and serve our great God as well. Let's give all honor, glory and praise to Almighty God who gives His angels charge over us, His children.

PRAYER

Almighty Father. Thank you for appointing your angels to us according to your will and purposes. There have been many times I have seen your protection and deliverance in my life, and I know it was because of your keeping power LORD. I give you all the glory and praise that you alone are worthy of. Amen.
