💭 Thoughtful Tuesday

This week’s New Testament reading is Luke 10:38–42, the story of Mary and Martha.

Martha is busy serving and attending to everything that needs to be done, while Mary chooses to sit at Jesus’ feet and listen. When Martha becomes overwhelmed, Jesus gently reminds her that in the midst of all the busyness, one thing is truly necessary.

This passage is not a criticism of service or hard work. Instead, it reminds us that our doing should never become so consuming that we forget simply to be present with Christ. Sometimes the most faithful thing we can do is slow down, listen, and make room for God.

As you reflect today, consider:
❔ What distractions are keeping me from being fully present with God?
❔ Where might I need to slow down and simply listen?

Friday Faith Focus 🕊️

📖 “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?” — Psalm 27:1

The psalmist declares that the Lord is our light and salvation, and because of that, fear does not have the final word. Even when life feels uncertain or threatening, this passage reminds us that our deepest security is found in God’s presence.

Psalm 27 also points us toward one simple desire: to dwell with the Lord and seek Him above everything else. In a busy and often anxious world, that is a powerful reminder of where true peace is found.

💭 Thoughtful Tuesday

This week we continue reflecting on Job 1:13–22 and Job 2:7–10.

When Job’s life is turned upside down, those closest to him struggle to understand how he can continue trusting God. Job does not have easy answers, and scripture does not ask us to pretend that suffering is simple. Instead, his story shows us a faith that remains present even when life hurts.

There are times when we may not understand why something has happened or when relief will come. Job’s story reminds us that questions and grief do not mean faith has disappeared. We can wrestle, lament, and still remain in relationship with God.

As you reflect today, consider:
❔ How do I respond when my faith is tested by circumstances I cannot understand?
❔ Can I make room for both honest grief and trust in God at the same time?
